i am guessing there would be some kind of end of year 'bullet payment' ,if not then this is a great deal (even if one gets the base version of a4)

Simple maths - 25,500 Rs x 84 Months = 21,42,000 L + 5,00,000 L (Down Payment) + Registration (Free) + Insurance (Free)

Guess its not as simple as it looks. There has to be a bullet payment of around Rs. 2L along with the 12th EMI of each calender year.

@Navpreet. If you look at it logically it is not even 26L in real value terms. You are paying 26L over 7 years so the real amount is a lot lower and hence has to be some bullet payment.

Yep true. The deal just seems too good to be true! This is what is wrong with this kind of advertising. if not in large print, a small print should be given with the advertisement stating the actual deal.

Re: The BMW X1 at Rs.15,999 EMI (limited time offer)

There IS a bullet payment clause. 2 lacs per year for 7 years.

25,500 Rs x 84 Months = 21,42,000 L + 5,00,000 L (Down Payment) + 2 lacs bullet X 7 years = 40,42,000

This is a way of fooling the customer and draw him to the dealership. As long as the government is not strong at these laws, these things are bound to happen.

The effective EMI is Rs 42,166/- per month for 7 years.

Dont bash me for being so precise but since you say effective EMi I think it will be a bit less than 42,166/-. I guess you pay 2L at the end of the year(with last EMI). In this case you have just divided 2L with 12 (2L/12) and added with 25500. This 2L needs to be discounted.

Well, I pay 25,500 X 12 + 200000 per year = 5,06,000/-. If I pay 5,06,000 per annum it is equal to 42,166 per month

whether we pay 200000 per annum or 16,666 per month, IMHO its the same

You know earlier we used to debate can a regular i.t joe can buy a bmw (audi in this case)

Tell you what if one does not have other major liabilities(read emi) i still think this is a nice deal( the way bullet payment can be timed is with one's annual bonus)

Yes we might debate can the 25k & annual bonus be used elsewhere(in a more constructive manner ,thats where reality kicks in)

Completely OT, but how I wish my bonus was 2L (after tax would be even better)!

I suggest that if you can spare 30-40 lacs then its better to put it in FD and take a loan against it to make a new car purchase. That way the capital stays with you and you just have to pay the difference in the interest. Moreover loan against FD is hassel free.

Re: The BMW X1 at Rs.15,999 EMI (limited time offer)

Golden Rule to buy anything expensive is that if you don't have 1.5 times the market cost of that product, don't buy it.

This whole EMI hog wash is maybe good for business houses who take it as part of expenses, but even they will calculate the time value of money before foolishly throwing this money in.

These schemes are only good publicity and nothing else. Imagine throwing money at a depreciating asset and keep on doing it for 7 years.

Just as an example an A4 if you pay 40 lakhs for 7 years, after 7 years the value of the car is what 7-8 lakhs. Not to forget lakhs you have spent in maintenance. It is idiotic to even go for this.

An old saying goes if it eats and needs repairs do not invest in it.

ha...ha...so true
these marketing gimmicks are played to fool around average person, who then gets trapped in clutches of EMI
