Do you exactly know how accidents happen?

Let's say we cap the maximum power of all engines to 40-50 bhp and top speed to 80-100 km/hr. Now, do you think accidental fatality rate will suddenly come down drastically?

Do you have any real statistical data to back your worldview that the majority of accidents happen at very high speeds (only capable of high-end cars)?

Just like other uniquely Indian problems like garbage, the high accident rate is due to a combination of lack of empathy, drunk-driving idiots, misers that would drive tired to save a buck on staying overnight, cows/cycles on the same road and morons that think honking increases their top speed. We never look for holistic solutions, we just pick easy targets.

So, the only way your suggestion would work is to cap top-speed of all vehicles to 20 km/hr. I personally would rather die in a car crash, rather than living in a world like that.

People get to satisfy their urge to drive Super cars and which are adequately powered for Indian roads too. This coupled with the Accident sensors mentioned in above post would go a very long way.

And the prices are "sweeter too".

Oh please. They are taking advantage of tax loopholes, is all.
Thats all that they are thinking of. The affordable Macan still makes more than, in most cases, double the power of any other "more" affordable similarly sized car. One nut loose behind the wheel in any car, from the Alto 800 to the Maybach is enough. Rich, poor, young or old.

LOL another laughable example of our very professional media, where they repeatedly mention 'Speeding' Mercedes innumerable times in this video, and add the word 'Speeding' in the YouTube description as well, when actually it is the Biker who hit the Merc, as it took a U-Turn. (See CCTV footage below)
