re: Mahindra to introduce Rexton on 17th October 2012.EDIT Launched at Rs. 17.67 lakhs

So much excitement. Mental Overload, Dealers will start showing from Friday. Contacted Sterling in Gurgaon. Just can not wait.

I know this could be disappointing in reality but on paper it looks WOW. Keeping my expectations low but secretly hoping that it beats my expectations.

It's a M Class derivative so maybe just maybe.

Parrys when is your official unveiling coming man, please do hurry up.

re: Mahindra to introduce Rexton on 17th October 2012.EDIT Launched at Rs. 17.67 lakhs

Its a 2.7 Litre 5 cylinder engine!!!!!

There are differences between the engine outputs of manual and AWD system.

RX 5
Power (BHP) 162 @ 4000
Torque (NM) 340 @ 1800-3250

RX 7
Power (BHP) 184 @ 4000
Torque (NM) 402 @ 1600-3000

All details regarding features and specification are up. Please see the following link: http://www.ssangyongrexton.in/rexton...re-models.html

I think this car spells death for the likes of Captiva and Mitsubishi Pajero SFX or Sport et al.

I know Aria cannot be compared with this but I believe the Top end Aria too retails somewhere close to 19.XX lacs on road in Mumbai. I am sure Rexton has more features than the Aria. Sorry Tata, Mahindra has now taken the game to the next level.

re: Mahindra to introduce Rexton on 17th October 2012.EDIT Launched at Rs. 17.67 lakhs

This car offers a ton of features at a great price, which makes more threadbare cars around it look so poor in comparison. But I really have my doubts about Mahindra sorting out any early niggles with the car. I agree completely with Abhinavinc; this car is a bit of a poisoned chalice. I don't know what to make of it, really. Like so much of it, wary of it in equal measure too.

Totally Agree with Indian21r and Sarthak, The pricing is Killer, and the Looks !!! Too good , i'd say. The specifications on paper also looks quite interesting. It might surely take away markest shares from the likes of Captiva, Pajero, Fortuner (??), Santa Fe(??) and maybe to an extent from XUV (someone with those extra 3 lakhs and still thinking )!!

Slightly OT, Mahindra has Priced this very competitively, as are the other cars from their stable ... Why couldn't Storme be better priced by Tata's !! (not comparing Storme and Rexton, Just incase you guys want to beat me up !! )

Cardeep,
Suppose you were comparing the Street Price of XUV with the showroom price of Rexton? Guess that makes it within a lakh however

The vehicle does look stylish & flashy. Especially in this pic (screenshot from brochure), has a lot of attitude.

For someone looking to buy purely from the appearance point-of-view, this maybe a good attraction.

This being the first SsangYong in India, people will tend t be cautious.
Mahindra, in the past has not been very good in handling issues related to vehicles that are not their own development.

Here is the link to the ebrochure. It gives the GC as 252 mm. Is that correct?

Link to BSM review:

http://www.bsmotoring.com/news/mahin...ereview/5887/1

The ride is soft, but there is body roll (related to soft ride) around corners. Moreover, the engine is noisy when made to work hard. The seats are low, due to which the under-thigh support is inadequate in second row & woeful in third.

It can fight the Endy on power & novelty, & T-Fort on price fronts IMO.

XUV has Curtain Airbags and Rexton does not. Just a small observation from the official specifications...

re: Mahindra to introduce Rexton on 17th October 2012.EDIT Launched at Rs. 17.67 lakhs

Finally, Killer Pricing and good stand equipment. The only missing is the side curtain airbags and passenger electric adjust. Mahindra is on a roll. Hope they give good support to Customers. Captiva, Santa Fe, Pajecro Sport, X Trail, Aria (Top End) will surely feel the heat. A difference of Rs.4 Lakhs is hard to ignore.
Monthly Sales Figures will tell how much it will affect Fortuner Market.

The Camary in comparison feels bare in equipment levels. Someone should looking for camary should have a look at Rexton.
