Re: Autocar Performance Show : 1st to 4th November, 2012 @ Mumbai

For all those who have never visited the show and are contemplating whether to visit or not I would suggest you to visit based on these:
1. If you don't spot supercars and superbikes on the streets very often and wish to treat your eyes with a few examples.
2. If you are looking to purchase a new car soon, you have a good opportunity to see most of the options available on display under one roof.
3. If you are looking for an In-Car Entertainment System, you may get the opportunity to demo various products (subject to their respective demo vehicles) and purchase if you wish.
4. Very few performance parts were present since the last two times (eg. Magnaflow and remus) and the show hardly lives up to its name. You have more examples of window tints and scale models than the hardcore performance stalls.

These are my views from what I have witnessed over the years at the Autocar Performance Shows in Mumbai and was very disappointed as I had much higher expectations from it. The entry fees hiked to Rs.150/ is a joke .

Please can anyone tell me who was the event organised by, at Nehru a few years ago?? That was a real performance show and not a road car display mela.

If you haven't been to the show all these years, I suggest you do drop by if you are going to be in Mumbai. Folks from Mumbai aren't so thrilled about it anymore because like someone mentioned the show is becoming a drag now for us now.
A larger plus point is that with the supercar display around, your son will hav a lot to cheer about

Autocar Performance Show + Stuff Gadgets Show 2012

Its that time of the year ago. Autocar Performance Show is back and how? It has brought together the Gadget Show too. So you can look at cars and enjoy the gadgets to go with them.

It starts Tomorrow, Thursday, 1st of November 2012. Entries for public start at 2 P.M. From Friday to Sunday, the entries start at morning 11 A.M and the show ends everyday at 8 P.M.
Quote:
The annual Autocar Performance Show has become a permanent fixture on the Indian petrolhead’s calendar. They come from all over to get their fix of the latest that the world of high-performance has to offer. Come November 1-4, the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex will see thousands of motoring enthusiasts rushing through its gates to catch a glimpse of their favourite supercars and superbikes. After all, it’s not everyday that the fastest, most powerful and most coveted cars and bikes come together under one roof. And this year’s roof is going to be bigger than ever before! Here’s a taste of what’s to come.

KINGS of the road

Forget looking at posters, you can see your favourite supercars in the flesh here. We don’t want to spoil it for you, but we can tell you that one very special sportscar will be gracing the red carpet at this year’s show. It’s the latest iteration of the iconic Porsche 911, and the company will be bringing it and the rest of its range to its stand at the show. Hardcore sportscars not your thing? There are a number of comfortable, luxurious and powerful grand tourers on display as well. How does that sound?

Sultans of swingarm

So you prefer two wheels to four, handlebars to steering wheels, saddles to seats; the superbike corner will definitely impress you. Some of the best bikes available in India will be on display; perhaps even some that aren’t available in India.

Off-road offensive

Experience the full off-road capabilities of a Mahindra 4X4. Our experts will take you through a purpose-built track in a Mahindra Thar, tackling all sorts of obstacles, from muddy ditches, to monstrous bumps, to rough patches of gravel and rock, and watery slush pits. Be prepared, things are going to get a bit muddy.

Go for glory

Driving in traffic getting to you? If you own a Maruti car, bring it down to the show and let off some steam at the Maruti Suzuki Autocross track. Pit yourself against the specially designed track in a controlled environment, with driving tips from professionals.

Build your own beast

If you’ve always wanted to get more out of your machine, or wanted to modify its looks to suit your style, this is the perfect opportunity.

The Autocar Performance Show will have specialists, experts and tech-gurus standing by with advice on everything from cosmetic changes to performance enhancements. Exhausts, filters, spoilers, entertainment systems, nitrous oxide kits – you ask us about it and we’ll have a suggestion ready.

STUFF GADGET SHOW 2012

This year, for the first time, motorheads shall rub elbows with gadget freaks at the Autocar Performance Show. Gadget magazine Stuff India will showcase the finest tech from around the world. Check out what the top brands have to offer, try out a few for size. And if you fancy yourself a gamer, the Gaming Zone offers the latest consoles and games to try out. If it’s the future of innovation and technology you’re interested in, the Stuff Exclusive Zone will give you a glimpse of the exciting developments in the world of gadgetry.

My reason to post is, lets organize another meet on Saturday or Sunday. I guess most of us will be going, so why not go together. Saturday and Sunday seem to be best days as is the weekend and holidays for most people. I am game for either of the days.
Mods if you could add a Poll so we can check who prefers what it would be great.

Why isn't Mitsubishi participating?
Also, is there some merchandise available for purchase? e.g. caps, scale models etc?
