Tata Indigo eCS facelift

Indiacarsbikes have reported sighting of the facelifted Indigo eCS. Here is the link to their article:

http://www.indiancarsbikes.in/cars/i...t-spied-65004/

The facelift seems to be an exercise to retain some interest (with new grill, smoked headlamps & new foglamps) in the car in wake of impending competition from future enterants, viz - Honda Brio Amaze & Mahindra Verito CS.

Re: Tata Indigo eCS facelift

Seems like yet another shot of cosmetic tuck up to keep the sales ticking for the eCS. Even though it may not make outright sense to spend effort on this product, the fact that it sells some numbers in the hinterland on a consistant basis must be a good reason afterall. Thought that the double barrel headlamps were already available and not sure how much will a new texture of the grill would make a difference.

The product has reached the end of its lifecycle and Tata should now launch a CS version of the Manza which will not only boost its sales but offer an better product overall to the customers. With a 90 PS powerplant in a compact form, it will be a very good proposition indeed.

Re: Tata Indigo eCS facelift

The sad state of this thread despite being over 7 months old explains TATA's predicament in Indian market.

There is absolutely zilch interest in the vehicle. Buck up Tata! or you may have to bow out...

On the news front, it is expected that the facelift will launch this month.

Re: Tata Indigo eCS facelift

Hi @akhilesh51, there is another thread on Tata Motors' future plans, where the action is going on, due to which there are barely new posts in this thread. And, yes I (or anybody) could post pics & links to new sightings uploaded on other forums, only if Tata Motors were not as boring as HM.

BHPians,

We're going to see an exclusive Team-BHP scoop in this very space in the next one hour. Tata Motors is indeed up to something and we'll bring you the dope first.

Cheers,

Jay

When you say "We" who are the godly folks to bring this scoop? Tata in a launch conference or something? I doubt this car even in a new iteration will arouse any market sentiments, its a dead horse. Tata requires to go away from Indigo & Indica badge.

Scoop: Team-BHP snags an uncamouflaged Tata Indigo eCS facelift

Link to News Section

Sources close to Team-BHP state that Tata Motors is lining up a big event on the 19th of June 2013. On that very day, we'll see not one, not two, but three car launches. These launches will be facelifts of existing products and in the mix, a much anticipated(and much delayed if we may add) product will also be launched. Yes, the Tata Nano CNG is said be due on the 19th of June 2013 and we learn that shipments of the Nano CNG are being readied up to reach Tata dealerships across the country ahead of the actual launch. The overarching idea is to make the Nano CNG available right off the shelf from the launch date itself. Coming to the big scoop Team-BHP's crack team of spy photographers have snagged, it is the 2013 Tata Indigo eCS facelift.

Tata Indigo eCS facelift-2013-tata-indigo-ecs-facelift.jpg

This is the first ever uncamouflaged image of the Indigo eCS Facelift. Tata Motors has already begun dispatching the Indigo eCS facelift to dealerships and in the next few days, expect to spot the car in dealer stockyards across the country. The compact sedan comes at a time when cars such as the Honda Amaze, the Maruti Swift Dzire and the Verito Vibe are all competing for the car buyer's purse strings. Compact sedans have become a viable alternative to hatchbacks in India and with the Dzire, Indigo eCS and Amaze delivering a combined sales number of about 25,000 units each month, this segment is proving to be a cash cow for many car makers. To give credit where it's due, the Indigo eCS was the first car to spawn the whole compact sedan segment, and the latest facelift is Tata Motors renewed bid to whip up buyer interest in this product.

Coming to the facelift, the Indigo eCS gets a new front end with the grille, bumper and headlamps getting a refresh. At the rear too, the Tata Indigo eCS gets a teeny weeny update in the form of a chrome strip emblazoned across its boot. Refreshed alloy wheels are another addition. Notably, these changes, especially the ones at the front of the car, reflects Tata Motors' design philosophy moving towards more aggressive lines and in that light, the Indigo eCS is an early sign of things to come from Tata Motors design department. On the inside, the Tata Indigo eCS could feature a refresh with a feature or two added, in keeping with the overall theme of the facelift. Under the hood, the Indigo eCS is expected to motor on with the 1.4 Liter CR4 common rail-turbo diesel motor and the 1.2 Liter XETA petrol unit. A CNG-petrol dual fuel option too is said to be in the works.

Team-BHP is also at work to find out the exact details of the big June 19th launch from Tata Motors including the exact spec of the vehicles that will be launched. Keep an eye out for our updates.

Re: Tata Indigo eCS facelift

The front chrome grill of this car reminds me of the Mahindra Verito. Will the same design be carried over to the older Tata Indica is something to watch for.

It looks abit different in the front. Agreed, they were the first to offer a compact sedan to the market, but dropping/rebranding the Indigo/Indica badge is the most important thing.

Car looks much better now. But no amount of cosmetic changes like this help TATA. They need to work on overall quality and reliability of their products.

"Disappointing" is the word. Lets look beyond new grilles and bumpers, Tata.

Re: Tata Indigo eCS facelift

ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTING

Do not understand what's up with these auto companies. First Maruti tried to ape the Manza grill on to the SX4, now Tata is trying to copy the Genio/Verito grill on to the Indigo.

Cmon Tata, do you still not get it? This will not get you anywhere. You ain't a Maruti to put some stickers and get away calling it a facelift. You need to tighten up you screws big time.

Re: Tata Indigo eCS facelift

Isn't it time for TATA to end the production of the Sumo, indica and indigo series of vehicles . Outdated and tired at being looked at by the Indian public at large !

Re: Tata Indigo eCS facelift

Looks much better upfront, but it needs an interior refresh as well. Wonder what stops them from getting the vista interiors into this one. (The D-90 one with the speedo right in front of the driver.). They can keep the features limited but really they don't cost that much. The feel good factor is required.

The width. Vista dash is wider and won't fit into this car.
