The next generation Alto (A-Star in India) will be based on the Regina concept shown by Suzuki. That may be the reason Maruti not doing any modification to the A-Star to make it more appealing, IMO.

And that Regina may have a sedan version as well!
This car reminds of the "Gloria" (Madagascar Movie).

I truly miss the "classic touch" of Suzuki, in their newer generation cars! Zen (MH410) , for example was such a looker, inspite of being so sedate in terms of design. Even the Humble M800 looked kind of cute. Swift is such a classic ageless design (even after overlooking the fact that it borrows heavily from the Mini Cooper).

Re: Maruti Launches A-Star Aktiv (limited ed with extra fittings)

the Regina in the green colour looks like e toad!! IF seriously it is to come as the next A star, it will be a bigger disaster!!!
the Original A star concept with LED lights was actually quite stylish. However, adding LED lights in this price range is out of question. However, between the new 800 and the Wagon R, does Maruti really need a product in between?

what exactly is the business sense behind A Star? initially it was the peppy K10, but that does not hold any more. The Alto K10 is quite a performer both on the road and off the shelves!!

Why does Maruti need to keep flogging the A Star?

Maruti trying to do a Hero Honda!!! Just as awful. And am surprised when car companies think sticker jobs attract youth of today. Really? I like the ad for Eon cause it relies on branding and not some hideous sticker job.

it seems death nail for A-Star. Any idea how Nissan Pixo is doing in Europe markets ?.
Looking at this car seems is it the same MSIL which makes likes of swift / Ertiga / wagon R / alto ?

Another 'Refresh' model of another dying car from the Maruti stable.

Sometimes I feel why does Maruti plumb in money for getting such upgrades and releasing these into the market rather channel this money into making of more 1.3 diesel engined cars and decreased the waiting period.

Have to see if there are any takers for this Aktiv model.

Seems Maruti may launch the face lifted A-star.

IMHO it looks good and could turn the sales charts in it's favour.

That is the Chinese version of the A-Star, which is already discussed here:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ed-abroad.html

I wouldn't rule out the possibility as it looks better than the current version and MSIL cannot go further down with A-Star sales in India anyway. The chances are a little low though, unless Suzuki plans to introduce the same refresh to other export markets that India currently caters to, since it would be a disaster to manage two separate assembly lines for domestic and export markets with the current numbers.

The negatives for A-Star in India, mainly on the high dashboard and the lack of rear space will still hold good even with the refresh. So I don't see a big change in the numbers even with the refresh as long as the customers have a WagonR to turn to.
