Yes. It's a very genuine looking one! Infact one of the pics posted on the thread is from a real 4WD Duster.

Re: SCOOP! Renault's 4WD Duster spotted in Trivandrum

Let's solve this mystery.

I found the owner's name and vehicle registration number with the temporary registration number shown.

He has paid Rs.120080 as road tax.
In Kerala, the road tax for 10L-15L cars is 10% of the ex-showroom price.
So the Ex-showroom price must be Rs. 1200800.

Checked Nissan website and found the ex-showroom price of 'Diesel 110 PS RxZ Option pack' in Trivandrum to be exactly the same figure.

No more confusion about the variant.
See the screenshots.

So if indeed this is the 4WD Duster, then has it been launched to the public officially?
Or is it just a sticker?

Because there is absolutely no other news in the press or anywhere about Renault having launched the 4WD Duster in India...

That's some good detective work.

So is it actually a normal 110 PS RXZ option (2WD) itself with some fancy sticker? If so, we should actually request the Mods to lock the thread!

Whats wrong with these companies? First Renault launches a 4WD and does NO public announcement. Then Nissan copies the car into their website! (hope all get the drift)

Edit:: Why is the BHP mentioned as 80 in the second para of the screenshot under "Other details"? Silly stuffs with the govt bodies I say!

Sorry, Sorry..
Not NISSAN, It's the Renault website itself.
Mistake happened in the excitement of discovery.

Re: SCOOP! Renault's 4WD Duster spotted in Trivandrum

Have seen a Duster with AWD sticker in Mumbai/Thane as well. The same initial thought of it being an early owner had occured to me then but later figured that it was most probably a wanabe sticker.

Great detective work by buildupgypsy in cross checking via the tax paid the price of the vehicle.

But 4wd RHD dusters are being manufactured in the same plant in the same line for export markets..so lets not discount that option too soon.

I believe for a car to be sold in India, it needs to be homologated and registered (?) with RTOs of all states. Unless it is done, there is NO way a customer could buy and pay road tax which also means the car will NOT be legal to be on the road.

Re: SCOOP! Renault's 4WD Duster spotted in Trivandrum

Any latest development on this theme please? When is the 4x4 expected? I believe there are some speculative stories in the media about a launch before July 2014. But then there was a similar rumour last year too that it would be launched when Ford launched EcoSport. What's the latest?

Re: SCOOP! Renault's 4WD Duster spotted in Trivandrum

Renault Duster 4X4 will be on Indian roads by the festive season '14. Confirmed at the Auto Expo by outgoing Renault India head Mr Marc Nassif, who signed off the variant for production.

Cheers,

Jay
