Re: Rupees per BHP! Cars with most bang for the buck

I did a similar analysis, Bhp per Lakh, a while ago. Not sure it helped me in deciding on City S-MT, but it was interesting analysis nonetheless.

An interesting metric and point of view!
Each of the 140 BHP in my Yeti cost me around 12 - 13 odd Grand at the price I paid for the vehicle.
But I guess this is a rather crude sort of calculator as there is so much more one gets for the bucks one spends.

Re: Rupees per BHP! Cars with most bang for the buck

Can we include motorcycles?

The RE Thunderbird
$$$ = 1,25,000
Bhp = 19

So it works out to a whopping 6579 Rs for each BHp

But torque figures would give you a lot of satisfaction when compared to all other 2 wheelers.
IIRC, its 42 Nm of pulling force, right?

Re: Rupees per BHP! Cars with most bang for the buck

Well, let me start with my Liva Diesel.
6L ex-showroom chennai. It has 68Bhp.
So, it is Rs.8823/Bhp
Well , it is on the pricier side!

2. Liva TRD - Rs.6.6L (Chennai)
90 BHP. So, it is Rs.7333/BHP , It's much cheaper than the Diesel Liva!

3. Toyota Prius - Rs.30L (Chennai)
It's got 100bhp. So, it is Rs.30,000/BHP!! Frigging expensive!

2) Hero Honda Karizma

OTR = Rs 82,000
BHP = 17
Rs/BHP = 4823

Cheers,
Anurag.

On the flip side, what car would have the worst Rs/Bhp value?

Cheers,
Adi
My Bolero MrDicR, Jan 2012
BHP: 63
Ex-Showroom: 6,82,000
Rs/BHP: 10825

If figure out Rs/BHP for the On-road price i.e. 7,60,000
RS/BHP comes out to be whooping: 12063
Though you never experience power in a bolero. In fact, it should be the torque we should calculate for Bolero/SUV.

Ex-Showroom: 6,82,000
Torque: 195
Rs/Torque: 3497

Haven't seen any figures for VW Polo yet so here it is!

Polo Comfort-line Oct 2012:

Ex Showroom: 4,68,835
BHP: 74

Price/ BHP = Rs. 6335

I guess it's decent
