Thread moved out from the Assembly Line section. Thanks!

I thought you guys forgot about this thread. Really glad to see this thread. Thanks @parrys for this. But missing GTO's comments.

Really glad to see that XUV500 is maintaing it's 2200+ nos when the trend is generally down in the SUV segment as whole. W4 model must have helped in numbers which show month to month growth of 5.7%, while it is negative for rest, which includes the mighty fortuner also.

I do NOT understand this trend! Ecosport has been reducing in numbers and boast of a waiting period while it's the same with Terrano. Duster seems to be declining as well, so it's NOT the case of Duster prioritized over Terrano.

As for Ecosport, I can assume they are making every rupee out of it by choking Indian customers and exporting as much as they can while whacking the Indian customers with price hikes too.

Are we witnessing a new trend of artificial waiting period formulated by the manufacturers by under producing or NOT catering to the local markets?

Etios climbing over the numbers of Tata's Indigo+Manza is a clear sign that taxi owners are finally disowning Tata cars and moving towards Etios because of its high reliability and low maintenance. I always had this feeling that what Toyota has delivered the basic reliable no-nonsense car, which the Tata once aimed for in the Indian market with its Etios twins.

Ironically, in Kolkata the taxi owners seem to be shifting towards the Maruti-Suzuki Dzire. With Ambassador dying a slow death, Kolkata, which once belonged to Amby, we get to see more and more Dzires as taxis and tour and travel yellow number-plated cars. Etios would probably rule in other cities in taxi segment in the years to come. In Kolkata, it would be Suzuki Dzire.

December discounts have worked very well for Renault. Numbers for Fluence jumped to 86 from 12 & 15 in previous two months, similarly for Koleos.

Sales of most of D segment cars showed decline, but Renault's discounts helped them show upward trend. I guess numbers would drop down in January for Renault.

Finally the sales thread is up. Generally, the December month factory offtake would be lesser and the retail would be higher due to the year end offers.

For TATA, the Nano is a dud, Indica/Vista and Indigo/Manza are duds, the UVs too not raking in numbers. Wonder how long they will go on sliding down the chart. Now they are off by around 10000 to Mahindra.

Almost all manufacturers have either dropped in sales or simply remained flat.

Thanks for this much awaited thread! One quick observation is i20 is doing better than the budget hatchbacks like Figo, Sail U-VA and Ritz. Amazing India...

Finally the numbers are out but with no surprises. The year end push might have given the big two a decent run but others are sitting in the same bucket.

Interesting are the numbers of the Grand i10 and the Bolero with some stupendous numbers on the upside and the i10 and i20 on the downside taking the brunt of its newest sibling.

Wonder why some brand new superhits like the Amaze and EcoSport have clocked their lowest numbers despite a very healthy order book. Particularly sad at the Ford's gameplan of supplying lesser and lesser numbers every month with out clearing the huge pile of orders. At this rate they will only generate negative publicity and losing their bite in the market.

Tatas lose their 5 digit mark in sales and also go down to 5th losing out to Toyota while Nissan loses nearly half of the Terranos sale compared to last month. What happened here I wonder?

i10 Grand looks to have taken up share of i10 and i20. Not sure how HM is going to manage with pathetic sales each month. Hope new Linea brings some good fortune to Fiat. VW sales are on a steady decline and there are no new releases planned either.

Thanks for the figures.
Just saw that the Amaze numbers have dipped substantially in Dec from the 7000 range to below 4500. Wonder why?
Tata Aria sees a spike in sales.:) The highest it has sold for a while.
