It's the season of Compact Sedan's and it was Ford's turn to showcase their Figo Concept Sedan.

Apart from the Figo concept sedan, Ford also showed the Fiesta facelift along with the current line up of EcoSport, Figo, Endeavour and Fiesta Classic.

Figo Concept Sedan:

High Points:
- Based on upcoming Ford KA hatchback platform
- India gets the shortened sub 4m version whereas Brazil gets the longer full size sedan.
- Engine options were not revealed but it would probably get the 1.5L Diesel from the Fiesta and Ecosport. It may even get a detuned 1.0 EcoBoost.

Sporty aggressive elements dominate the styling:

The interiors were not ready, hence photos weren't permitted. Interiors were very similar to the Fiesta but we weren't allowed to shoot them. This is the best we could manage:

Ford Fiesta facelift:

High Points:
- Facelift includes changes to bumpers, headlamps and tail lamps.
- Interior remains unchanged except for new features like auto headlamps and auto wipers.
- The old voice activated audio system has been replaced with Ford's SYNC system similar to the Ecosport.
- Engine options remain unchanged i.e. 1.5L Petrol (MT and AT) and 1.5L Diesel MT. Sadly no Ecoboost for the Fiesta.

The new front looks much better than the current Fiesta:


Aston Martin like front grill is Ford's new design language first seen on the American Fusion:


Headlamps are new and no longer have a smoked finish:

Rear changes look minimal but include new bumper, redesigned tail lamps and redesigned boot lid:


New alloy wheel design isn't really awe inspiring and looks a bit bland:

On day 2 Ford had another new facelifted Fiesta on display, this time with interiors accessible. We took a few photos.

Biggest change is the dual tone colour scheme from the all grey:




Centre console is redesigned with a piano black finish vs the earlier silver:


Music system is now changed to Ford SYNC:

Apart from the Figo concept and the Fiesta facelift, Ford had the current line up of cars offered in India.

This blue Ecosport caught my attention thanks to the alloy wheels which are similar to the Eurpoean Ecosport. Unfortunately, these alloys will not be standard anytime soon in India:

Below the suspended Ecosport was a demo of the SYNC system. There was a game in which you had to drive and talk out instructions to the SYNC system:

Ford had a small section where one could make their own badge. You could write anything on the paper badges and place it on a rig with an aluminum plate and the plastic badge. The rig would crimp the pieces together to make a badge:

The Figo Sedan is one the good looking compact sedans among the recent launches and hopefully it is launched to the market as is in the pictures.

I will be a good upgrade for people who don't want to go for the Classic because of its outdated tag.

Figo concept sedan is hands down the best compact sedan i have seen yet.Good lesson to others that one can be made without lookingw awkward.Will be a good seller with the 1.0 ecoboost.

• Figo Compact Sedan Concept - looks contemporary and proportionate, but with interiors yet to be designed, they might lose the market to the early birds like the Zest as the actual launch might take time.
• New Fiesta Sedan - disappointing to know that this is only a face-lift. No changes to interior spacing and the styling, I think half the battle is lost!

Thanks Vid6639 for the much needed update. IMO, the Figo sedan is truly the one to watch out for. The sub 4 meter sedan's are really increasing in number and looks like 2014-2015 will be a good year for the Indian Car Scene.

The Figo sedan looks neat. They might have another winner on their hands here. Wonder why they chose not to bring the Ka hatch concept.

The revised Fiesta looks great from the front, but no amount of nip and tuck can hide the bulbous rear. The aging Endeavour is a complete eye sore. Ford could have brought a bit more eye candy to the show.

I was looking forward for the new Mondeo. I heard from reliable sources that the new Mondeo was in Bangalore recently for two weeks for some tests. Disappointing.

Nice facelift indeed. And loved the paint job on the display car.
They should have done some updates to second-class rear seat. Along with that I hope they have not made any changes to the drive characteristics.

Any news form there about the efforts Ford is taking to shorten the waiting period for Ecosport. Those alloys for the European one is marvelous and Ford has to make it available here in India.

So there wasnt any new launches this year by Ford then. I for one believe that the earlier Fiesta front was the best for the car. With the new Ecosport influenced front, the whole beauty of the Fiesta is destroyed. The styling doesnt gel at all. Add to that no interior changes, Ford has continued with the market dud. What happened to the Ka concept being introduced in the Expo?

I am eagerly looking at the face lifted Fiesta. Hope Ford has updated the interior and not continued with the Nokia facia. The alloys do look very bland and old.

I think I saw one pic of the Figo concept sedan which had the interior masked from the bottom of the steering wheel all the way to the back.

Sad to see no Fiesta hatch here.
