| ![]() All said and done, I think the IND plates do look better and show the registration number legibly. Compared to the stupid ways in which people get their number plates done (BOSS,786 and other such fancy numbers). I recall in some thread, there was a fanatic who had his number plate such that it resembled the last name of our PM in a mix of english and devanagri script. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Could we figure out how to get a genuine High security plate in Bangalore? I could not find this information in the thread or elsewhere. For now decided to cover the hologram and IND part. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() The state RTO has to officially introduce the High security plates for it to be legal. Quite a few states in the North and Pondy have implemented this. The original one will have your VIN no etched onto the number plate, will be fixed with rivets and can only be issued by the RTO. In addition it costs only Rs.300 ! |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I am guessing that the regular sized plate have just enough space to hold the fonts as per spec size. So does the English font in the subject picture confirm to the MVA specifications on size? |

![]() IMO, a drive against illegal number plates should not be restricted just to IND plates alone ![]() and cops should lead by example "Interestingly, many of the vehicles of police officers too have the “IND” mark, said the police officer." | ![]() Some more fodder ![]() What is a faulty number plate? A number plate is said to be faulty, when it does not comply with the rules laid down in CMV Rules 50 and 51. The rules clearly describe the dimensions of the number plate and the numbers. It also mentions that the letters of the registration mark shall be in English and the figures shall be in Arabic numerals, writing in vernacular languages is not permitted. The rules also clearly mention the colour scheme to be followed by private and public vehicles. For details of how each number plate should be, you can check the Rules 50 and 51 of Central Motor Vehicle Rule 1989. Source: http://bangalore.citizenmatters.in/a...ake-entry-soon |

| ![]() Pardon my ignorance but my local VW dealer is asking if I want "IND plates" or regular plates for my new Polo. I like the look of the IND plates on other vehicles and the extra charge is negligible but just worried about legality here. Are IND plates legal or not in Karnataka? And if yes, does it mean that they are legal but not mandatory? Last edited by McLaren Rulez : 4th December 2015 at 00:19. |
