re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

After kicking off its exports to Japan, Maruti Suzuki gears up for export of Baleno's to Europe.
Hope they do not compromise the domestic allotments to accommodate exports.

Maruti has opened the flood gates to new global markets like Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Spain among others. According to the information we have received, the first shipment to Europe is ready and will leave this month from Mundra

Exports to Europe has already been commenced. I had checked in Zauba, posted the same in Baleno official review thread.
Cheers

re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

With exports kicking off in full swing, looks like the local wait periods will rise further. In general companies prefer to focus on export and with Baleno being the first Suzuki car being exported, Maruti will be focused on ensuring the global demands are met.

Hope it does not cause a severe impact.

As per Zauba, ~1200 units of Baleno have been exported to Europe in February (till Feb 10th). Coupled with the ~1800 odd dispatched to Japan end of January, would be interesting to see the local dealer dispatches for February in India.

Maruti starts exporting the Baleno to European markets

At the time of the Baleno's launch in India, Maruti Suzuki confirmed that the car would be exported to over 100 countries worldwide. While the Baleno has already been exported to Suzuki's home market of Japan, shipments have now been sent to European markets as well.

As per the data on Zauba, Maruti Suzuki has exported several left-hand drive units of the Baleno to markets like Poland, Germany, Belgium, Slovenia and Italy. The cars in question are powered by a K12C petrol engine that displaces 1,242cc (Indian Baleno displaces 1,197cc). Some of the cars exported have the CVT automatic gearbox, while most of the cars have the standard 5-speed manual transmission.

The Baleno has been a success in the market and drives in most of the footfall for Maruti's NEXA premium car dealerships. In India, the Baleno is expected to get the option of a new 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that makes 110 BHP and 170 Nm of torque, with the launch expected in the festive season this year.

Re: Maruti starts exporting the Baleno to European markets

As per Zauba, nearly ~1200 units have been exported to Europe in the first 10 days of February. Add the 1800 units exported to Japan in Jan end, makes it ~3000 units of exports in the last month.

Need to see how this impacts local dispatches. In Jan itself, the dispatches fell from 10,000+ in December to 7000+ in Jan. Considering the already long waiting periods, hope this does not cause the local dispatches to drop further.

Maruti will definitely want to focus on meeting export needs as this is the first car going out from here and it is no doubt a good car, but it is in a segment that has plenty of options. So hope there is focus to meet the local demand also.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

I am happy to hear that India is exporting Baleno already to other countries. However, this makes me extremely curious about the crash test and safety ratings for the variants. I think many of us have doubts on the safety aspects of the Baleno considering its weight.

Looking forward to seeing a detailed safety assessment report.

Really liked your question. Appreciate your courage and non-conventional way of thinking. Our country needs such thinkers.

MSIL is at its peak and this is the best time to diversify. This question definitely deserves a separate thread.

Technically, As far as the car manufacturing business is concerned, MSIL will not be allowed to start a new venture without Suzuki Intl's permission and as we all know that is not going to happen.

But moreover, I think that Suzuki should allow MSIL to venture into other territories other than car manufacturing. For example, if we consider the business consulting, MSIL could leverage its customer servicing capabilities to earn more profits. TaMo, Mahindra, Renault all need it. Here, am not asking to give away the competitive advantages.

There could be many possible avenues. Just a need of converting the strong points into the business venture. No harm in earning more profits in fair manner and creating job opportunities in the country.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

'Made in India ' Baleno -the full production version of the car will now premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next week.

The new Baleno will be launched across Europe this spring, with UK sales starting in June.

Quote:
It's based on a new lightweight platform, while power comes from a turbocharged 1.0-litre direct-injected three-pot BoosterJet petrol unit making 110hp and 170Nm (125lb ft) of torque.

Also new is the 1.2-litre SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) engine option which combines a four-cylinder petrol with an integrated starter generator connected to a lithium-ion battery.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

Maruti Suzuki has launched the Baleno hatchback in Japan.

Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too-baleno-japan.jpg

The Baleno was first exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015 and was launched in India on October 26, 2015. Since its launch, Maruti Suzuki claims to have sold more than 38,000 units of the hatchback in the domestic market.

The Baleno is manufactured only in India at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar facility in Haryana. It will be exported to more than 100 countries including Japan, where it is sold with a choice of two petrol engines.

The first engine is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged Booster Jet unit that makes 110 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 160 Nm of torque @ 1,500-4,000 rpm. The second mill is a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Dual Jet engine that makes 90 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm of torque @ 4,400 rpm.

The Baleno is the first car made by Maruti Suzuki to be exported to Japan.

More details about launch of Baleno in Japan
It weighs only 910 kgs for booster variant. Indian Baleno petrol weighs 890 kgs. Japanese baleno gets extra features and additional components like turbo, intercooler etc. So maruti has given the same body shell even for Indian Baleno.

Wonder what the other features are; that are there in the International "Export" Edition but which are not available in the India edition.

I had checked the Baleno export variant which was under testing at cochin. Additional features/equipment were all 4 disc brakes, rear fog lamps, side airbags, TPMS, Radar based brake support(which was showing as disabled in MID)
