Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

Does anyone know the launch dates in Europe? This could give us some leads into the Euro NCAP results for the car. Now I do agree that the weights are different for the Indian and export variants but it could still give us some picture.

I was told by maruti engineers that body shell is same for export variants. Baleno petrol in India weighs 890 kgs and 1.2 baleno CVT in Japan weighs 910 kgs. It's just 20 kgs more, thanks to few additional equipment. So we can conclude that maruti has not compromised on body shell. Also NCAP rating for export models will be higher due to extra airbags.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

Baleno , 4-cylinder aspirated 1.2 Dualjet SHVS, driven by a 90 horsepower gasoline SHVS reviewed in Italy.

Available in 3 variants
- 1.2 dualjet Manual - B EASY-provides as standard with manual air conditioning, split rear seats, a multifunction steering wheel (height adjustable), central locking and multimedia system that integrates Bluetooth connectivity, USB and aux inputs and six speakers.

- 1.2 dualjet with added features - B Cool The B-Cool adds 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, fog lights and xenon headlight

- 1.2 dualjet - AT - B TOP ( ~ 13 Lakhs INR) -also provides for the automatic climate control, electric rear windows, front center armrest, the start button, adjustable steering wheel in depth, the 7-inch touch screen and various devices the active safety, as the adaptive speed controller

The equipment is even richer on 1.2 DUALJET SHVS that offers (in addition to the B-Top) also the Start & Stop system, rear disc brakes and heated front seats. The distances of the Smart SHVS amounted to 25 km per liter.

The 1.2 Dualjet Hybrid, a car that has the remarkable interior space the main Trump. Good luggage capacity: 355 litres in 5 places. So aboard the Baleno, 3.99 metres long, traveling comfortably, with plenty of room around it in bright light. The bridge, the seats (impractical but adjusting the backrest of the front ones) and most of the furnishings provide an acceptable level of finish.
Everything, in short, is made using an appreciable commitment in particular as regards the arrangement which provides a rich set of edge

It has also has a good comfort due to soft to perfection and to suspensions that work well on any type of surface. At all speeds, the 1200 Dualjet from 90 PS (120 Nm torque) is never hear fastidiously. Picking up, however, is struggling a bit to show his qualities and so you are forced to climb one or two gears gearbox 5 reports which provides good maneuverability. For the hybrid version, however, does not have the automatic.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

Made-in-India Baleno goes on sale in Europe -Germany and Belgium begins its sales.

Quote:
Priced from 13,790 to 19,490 euros (Rs 10.44 lakh-Rs 14.75 lakh) in Germany and 12,899 to 20,599 euros (Rs 9.76 lakh-Rs 15.57 lakh) in Belgium, the Baleno will go head on with more established rivals like the Ford Fiesta, Skoda Fabia and Volkswagen Polo in the hatchback segment
Quote:
In February, the hatchback became the company’s most exported car. With shipments of nearly 3,400 units in the month, the Baleno outdid its siblings, the Alto (1,645 units) and the Swift (1,425 units) in February, the two other most exported cars from the company’s stable.

Now with sales in other European markets also set to start soon, the carmaker is likely to meet its initial export target of 5,000-6,000 units a month.

Talk about export quality! I remember reading that the Baleno in Italy comes with airbags all around, ESP etc. Considering the current landscape of hatchbacks in India, a top-end variant with all the safety features should sell well. Unfortunately Suzuki thinks otherwise!

Domestic sales figures of baleno is declining each month and booking number is getting increased. Maruti is clearly focusing on exports and neglecting domestic market like what ford did to ecosport in initial months.

Maruti is importing boosterjet engine (K10 C) from Japan and plonking it into export variants for Europe.

Balenos exported to Europe are also equipped with Radar Brake Support.

Safety kit includes ESP, six airbags and Radar Brake Support. With the latter, if the vehicle is travelling faster than 5 km/h, millimeter wave radar can detect potential collisions by alerting the driver, increasing braking force or automatically apply the brakes.

It's good to see Made in India baleno getting exported to Japan and many European countries. India is the only manufacturing hub to cater global demands. I wish to see more models from Maruti following the same trend

IMHO, except for the fact that it create more jobs there is nothing much to feel happy about. It’s a delightful matter (for the customer) if the quality, features, and standards followed for the export markets are made available in India also.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

1.0 BoosterJet is a 3 cylinder unit. So, the cost of producing only the engine block & Head may be reduced, due to one less cylinder, 1 less piston, lesser number of valves etc.
But, the cost for a turbo could offset the saving above.

Still, Overall, I think, if Suzuki localizes everything, then the 1.0 BoosterJet could be produced at similar cost as the 1.2K Series.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

Can someone truly tell me what's preventing them from selling this in India?
Is it:
  1. Do they want to manufacture/assemble the engine locally before selling the car to the Indian masses?
  2. Are they still tuning the engine for Indian fuel quality?
  3. Or is it something else?

Will launch in India this festive season. Yes they are being tuned and tested for Indian conditions.

Re: Maruti to export Baleno to Japan. EDIT: Now Europe too

Are they increasing the weight of the car or retaining the same for export to europe? Will it clear the NCAP test?
