A friend of mine shared these pictures with me over Whatsapp. Looks like the Hexa is being tested vigorously on the Pune - Satara highway:

I don't understand whats with all this testing. It was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015 !

Could they be testing a 1999cc version considering many Metro's may implement a rule like Delhi ?

2 reasons why I hope they've reduced the tyre size :
a) In this segment people don't look to spend 3/km only on tyre-wear.
b) A 2.0L engine would definitely be abit more strained if they stick to 19" tyres.

Where did you get this info from? Even in Delhi this restriction is set to pass..!?

Hexa to me looks like a straight competition to the Innova Crysta. I hope Tata doesn't price it too much like they did with aria. One of my friendly birdy has informed me that an august launch looks probable and pricing could be in the range of 16-21 lakhs and it seems Tata are importing few parts for the Hexa. I seriously wish tata doesn't price anything over 17-18 laks:D

Any news anyone??

The Innova Crysta has a confirmed launch date this week. I fail to understand the delay with TATA in confirming a launch period. Are the guys waiting to see how the market reacts to the pricing & the features of their competitors??

GOD save these guys. Should we also say "opportunity lost"??:deadhorse

When I went to the dealership to see the Tiago, they hinted at a 2017 launch for the Nexon to accommodate the Hexa during the festive season, and Kite5 sedan before it too.

I don't think TATA has the ability to market the launch ofmultiple cars together at a time, so I feel it's not a bad strategy to have this 4 month gap between various launch plans.

On a separate note the will the spec of Crysta @ 2.4 L/ 160 bhp/ 400 Nm and 2.8 L/ 177 bhp / 450 Nm not act as a damper?? Toyota has indeed raised the bar.

Having said this, the looks of Hexa is much more pleasing - my opinion.

Crysta Specs you mention seems incorrect.

2.4L - 150 bhp, 343 NM torque
2.8L - 174 bhp, 360 NM torque.

HEXA would certainly come with the 2.2L - 156 bhp, 400 NM version similar to the one on the Storme 400. Which bar has Toyota raised in the engine department as the one with the TATA is producing 6PS more and 57 NM torque even compared to the 2.4L engine.

thanks for the correction. this additional juice is definitely encouraging.

with price from the direct competition out (Toyota Crysta), what do you think will be a competitive price for Hexa?
Prices are ex-Mumbai

Hexa not have these many variants, at most 5 or 6 variants with a couple of variants of the autobox. Whichever way the Hexa should undercut both the Innova and XUV by at least 30k to be in the game. If and when the numbers improve, a slow and gradual increase of the prices would seem ok, but again the hike should be only marginal (1-2%) over a period of 12 months.

After looking at Innova crysta prices I am guessing the Hexa ex showroom would be like this plus or minus RS 50000.

1. 4x4 16.5 laks with leather seats.
2. 2wd auto 15.5 laks
3. 2wd man 14.5 laks

The 4x4 and Auto models with 6 airbags and ESP/Traction control.

If TML had any hope of vomiting with the Innova Crysta, a price gap of mere 50k at entry level will definitely ruin things got them once again. I believe a price gap of atleast 1.5Lacs - 2Lacs on the base model, is absolutely necessary and the gap should should only increase at the top variant.

Consider this.
Feature for feature, the innova crysta is better equipped.
Electric driver seat adjust.
Engine start stop and keyless go.
7 inch touch screen.
Knee air bag.
And other conveniences like one step tumble seats and soft closing rear hatch.

Now consider the xuv500
Sunroof.
Electric seat adjust.
7 inch infotainment.
Engine start stop and keyless go.

I think tata would not even have the crysta in it's sights, considering the blind fan following the innova has.
Tata sould be targeting the xuv 500. Even then the hexa misses out on quite a few few nice to have features. If the Tiago's pricing is anything to go by the hexa i think would be priced at 16.5 laks ex showroom for the top end, undercutting the xuv 500 by a lakh or 50000.

Current Aria Pride 4*4 is priced at 16.43L ex-showroom Bangalore, which is more than the XUV 5OO W8 AWD at 16.18L. I think they should target to undercut the W8 versions of the XUV by more than 50k to remain competitive, which means good price reductions compared to the current Aria.

W10 is beyond comparison in terms of features as it has sunroof, brake energy regeneration, power adjustable driver seat etc.
