Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Bangalore-based Motormind Automotive Designs showcased the Hyperion 1, a prototype sports car that could form the basis of a production model in the future. While the car has a lot of rough edges all over, the effort put in by the Motormind team is commendable and has to be appreciated.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

With its edgy design, intakes, spoilers and wings, Hyperion 1 is striking to look at. I like it:

Hyperion 1 uses a space frame chassis designed by Motormind:

Fibre reinforced plastic and carbon fibre have been used in the construction of the car:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-5.jpg

Engine is located at the rear:

Small, round LED headlight:

Tail lamps have light strips:

Simple mesh grille at the front:

Wings on either side of the front grille:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-10.jpg

The car has air intakes on both sides:

Headlight gets plastic wing above it that looks like an eyebrow:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-8.jpg

Exhaust housed on the rear splitter. Sounds fab!

Scissor doors. No door handles on the outside:

Hyperion 1 logo on the door:

Motormind logo at the front:

No, that's not the Italian flag on the rear wing. This sticker represents "Made in India".

Motormind branding on side air intake:

5-spoke alloy wheels and low profile tyres. Notice the tyre-hugging mudguards:

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

The interiors are black with red stitching. Leather and carbon fibre have been used:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-50.jpg

Flat bottom steering wheel:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-51.jpg

Paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-52.jpg

A look at the steering wheel from behind. That cheapish plastic light stalk seems too out of place on an exclusive sports car:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-52aa.jpg

Brightness of the jazzy instrument cluster is adjustable. It was set to the maximum level on the display car:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-52b.jpg

A look at the centre console. Lots of carbon fibre used:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-49.jpg

Warning lights located on top of the centre console:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-49a.jpg

Touchscreen infotainment system:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-49b.jpg

Simple, old school key to start the car:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-53.jpg

Ambient lighting on the dashboard...
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-55.jpg

...and along the sides:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-56.jpg

Automatic gearbox:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-58.jpg

Armrest slides backwards:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-59.jpg

Switch to open and close the door. Exposed screw looks bad:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-61.jpg

Racing seats with lots of bolstering on the sides:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-91.jpg

Interesting seat design. Bolstering on either side to hold the occupant in place:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-dsc07562.jpg

"M" branding on the headrests:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-92.jpg

Air scoop sits behind the two seats in the middle:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-93.jpg

The seats have be adjusted to full back position. They have slide span of 6-7 inches:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-dsc07604.jpg

Seatbelt enclosure. Seabelts had been removed from the display car:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-94.jpg

Electronic struts for the scissor doors:
Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016-dsc07561.jpg

V6 petrol engine from a Hyundai Sonata. If this car makes it to production, it could use a different unit:

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Some rough edges but overall the effort is commendable.

Also "Make in India" is gathering some steam.

Nevertheless, a good design and a big step forward for Motormind. Hope they continue the good run and they should launch this is the near future, although with limited numbers. I could see this beauty finding some homes.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Those interiors need a complete revamp, i feel. Exteriors look good, even the oddly placed headlights look interesting. All in all, a good vehicle, that would definitely find lots of buyers, if brought into production and delivered to people in time. All the best team MotorMind.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Awesome effort there by "Made in India" Motormind . Would be interesting to know the technical specifications of this home grown super car understanding pretty well that they have had a first go at it as to what amount of power delivery they are thinking about when they actually go into production.

Aditya and TeamBHP kudos to you for bringing this to light else we would have never known that such a product existed.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

I saw this car in the workshop in very early stages, they have come a long way. Looks great and kudos to them to be able to achieve this kind of a result. Yes, the car has rough edges, but then i am sure they will work further on this.

Hoping to actually see it go in production, and see few of them at least on Bangalore roads to begin with.

Thanks Aditya for covering this.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Commendable effort there by Motormind! A lot of good bits and a few odd ones; nothing a feedback couldn't change. I like it overall, most of the Motormind designs are edgy and hence we can let it pass. The dials definitely need to be toned down, I doubt the driver can read anything on that. One more thing I would like to be corrected is the carbon fibre gearlever. A simple leather there would look good.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Good to see an Indian company coming up with some nice hyper-car like designs. Highly appreciated Motormind !

This car almost reminds me of the KTM Xbow (Cross bow) ... will be interesting to see it in production version.

A niche product. Like KTM X bow, Ariel Atom and Caterhams. Would be a toy for the rich and wealthy to play around with.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Kudos to Motormind.
Looks amazing. Build quality looks good so far. Can give the KTM's,Caterhams and Ariel's a run for their money. The led headlights look mean.
Makes it look like a pimped out F1 car.
Would love to know the technical specs. Also what colors it would be available in.

They got the looks right. I wish Motorminds good luck. Hope the car remains true to its namesake, the sun god of the Titans and remain strong to outlast all its contemporaries.

Re: Motormind @ Auto Expo 2016

Sleek and Superb execution by Team Motormind. One can definitely see their hardwork reflecting on the concept end product. The butterfly doors equally compliments the looks. Although I'm reiterating what others have said before would definitely love to know more about the technical specifications.

Do we have permission to drive such Slingshot sports car on Indian roads ?
