I saw a Black Genesis 3.0 with Hyundai Batch in Delhi yesterday driving in the middle of convoy with 5 other Sonatas. The sonatas were all carrying some Koreans in them. I didn't see who was in the Genesis and but it had a Tamil Nadu registration. The seen was dramatic though. I those kinds of convoys.

After looking at these images I am a bit confused with the strategy of Hyundai. If they are trying to build a premium brand like Toyota did with Lexus and Renault-Nissan did with Infiniti, then why have a Hyundai badge on the car??? Why not use Genesis as a stand-alone brand?

It seems like Hyundai is simply testing the vehicle currently with the 3.8L Engine or gauging the eyeballs a premium Hyundai product attracts, perhaps to plan a basic marketing strategy before introducing the Genesis as a premium product with a different brand name altogether?

With Kia entering the market in the next couple of years and introducing of Genesis by 2020, Hyundai is going all in and for such drastic steps one needs to be confident enough that the products are going to work or atleast sustain.

The new Genesis G90 will drop the Hyundai badge and Genesis will act as a separate entity / luxury brand under the same umbrella.

I saw a Genesis G 80 on Delhi roads today evening. Followed it from Okhla till GK2. It was black and a proper DL registration. Not a temporary number. Look wise it was awesome. So have they formally launched or is this an import? Cant find the car listed on Hyundai India website.

Right on! In the august company that it aspires to, RWD is de rigeur! Nice to see that Hyundai has finally seen the light - the Camry, Teana, Superb (the Indian specced version) didn't garner the expected volumes - the target buyers are canny enough to know what they want. And RWD is high on the list.

Saw the same car in Cochin few days back. It was running on Chennai registration plates.
