SIAM is actually doing quite a bit by having stuff related to automobile industry present in the Auto Expo. One of such thing were discussions around 70 years of Indian Automotive Industry and the future.

while I appreciate the thought behind putting up this history, the least that they could have done is use period-correct images. For example the image of the Omni and the Contessa are not period-correct ones. Also Contessa shown twice.

To be frank, i gone through most of the threads but didn't find much interesting. May be it's just me, but i found this years Auto Expo to be quite boring affair. Not many new cars (small, sedans, SUV's) are launched or displayed which is highly expected in general every year.

May be i was expecting too much?

Yes. Other than Tata Motors, TVS, and KIA no other manufacturer displayed anything significant.

The tradition of "concept" vehicles looking ugly and stupid is still alive and well. Sadly, it now seems to be a thing that electric vehicles follow that trend into production.

I did the obligatory drooling over some of the luxury brands --- but even they seem to have ugly models now.

Don't get me wrong here. Great work as usual by T-BHP team, no complains on that front at all

I have a feeling that there was not enough fuzz in this years Auto Expo as it used to be in past. Lots of brands were not present as well. Also in Auto Expo lot more concepts or production ready cars are expected which was not the case for sure. I was expecting too much may be

No, I'm not getting you wrong. In fact, you felt right. There isn't enough fizz this time. A lot of premium brands like Audi, Ford, VW, Jaguar, Landover, Skoda, etc didn't take part in the exhibition this time. At first even I was caught off guard by this realization.

Now the word is, to put it frankly, the Auto makers are pissed of and left high-and-dry by the current government. They have not got the desired support and backing to function at full potential. Taxes are unworkable with. So only the biggies who had nothing to lose anyway have taken part.

Sad situation. As always....

Exactly which points you are pointing to? Recently current government hasn't done anything (wrong i mean) which will make auto makers unhappy. In fact all big companies are happy after GST. Big companies used to pay 15-20 types of different taxes, now they have to pay only one, that is GST. In coming months it will make them more profitable.

This year i had no plans to visit Auto expo but a couple of days prior to the auto expo, i felt i should go! At the last moment, booked my air tickets and flew to Delhi.

Visited both- The Auto expo at greater Noida & the Ancillary show at Pragati Maidan. Few big manufactures like Audi, Volkswagen , Skoda, Nissan, Range Rover, Jaguar, Fiat, Jeep, Ford, Chevrolet , Harley Davidson, Benelli were missed who rocked the show in 2016 Auto expo. But still this year, the auto expo had its own essence and it was enjoyable, though the last one was better.

Here in Team Bhp there are different threads on different stalls of the Auto Expo. I have around 120 pics to share, so sharing them in this general Auto expo thread, so it can be viewed as- 'All in one place'.
