I thought Reva with a solar charger on the roof would be ideal for City only type of drives.

No dearth of sunlight in the country. Charge the car on the drive / at the parking lot... Is this possible?

May be only a sci-fi idea

Hi,
I have a wierd design mind.
For office goers/couples/vetrans a city car with two seats and a small hatcback.-For all small work where we take two wheelers
powered by 600/800 CC engine -we donot scale Himalayas everyday.
high ground clearance -we still have bump n road and Pune scores no 1
good turning radius as our "best part" tells to turn back once we cross the shop/lane

Is DC listening???

Cheers

I'd think Petra 1.6/ 1.9D with the following changes will be ideal.

1. A little longer and wider (say 6 inch longer and 3 inch wider).
2. Better plastics and interior like Honda
3. Better braking, ABS & airbags.
4. 195/60R14 tires
5. Lower turn radius say about 4.5-4.8 meters.
6. Better A.S.S and customer experience like Maruti/ Hyundai
7. A/C vents on doors and roof
8. Sun and moon roof

Not to forget the most important one

SCRATCH PROOF BODY and PAINT

This sounds more like my dream car, is there one already meeting these parameters.

I also would like my ideal Indian car to have a good turning radius to maneuver through the congested roads and to park in places where the car can barely squeeze through.
yeah, a car that can turn 90 deg would be ideal for parking.

For me the car has to be rear wheel drive. Even an AWD would do.
The honda Civics and the Toyota Corollas which are close to an ideal car (atleast they sell well) in many countries are luxury cars in India. Too bad.
They could have been contenders had they cost a couple of lakhs less.

Re: Design Your Ideal Car For India

I was just thinking of starting a new Thread on this subject but found this Thread. It was nice to see names of cars from 2004, 05, 06 mentioned in the Thread.

They say Customer's the king but we hardly get to what we want when it comes to cars, if it has good features it does not have enough power, if it has features no power, not the body style you want or not enough ground clearance.

When discussing with my friends that i was looking for a car which had at least 185-195 mm ground clearance, with a 1.5 to 1.6 liter engine, decent features, good FE and the body style of a Sedan or a Hatchback below 8 lakhs, they said i was just stalling.

So that got me wondering if i was the only person who is not able to find his ideal car..? Is it too much to ask..?
