Renault has been pushing television ad of the Captur so much, I wonder if it's actually right to keep doing so without even announcing the prices!
Even in the TV ads they focus so much on the gimmicks like DRLs rather than talking about the product itself. They think the looks of the product is good enough to sell. In spite of shooting the AD from all angles the car still comes across as an shrunk MUV rather than a well proportioned SUV. Duster is far better here, it drives home the point in terms of looks and offers decent value for its price ( although I feel it is marginally expensive when you look at the overall quality of interiors and materials.

You've nailed it fair & square! - the deafening silence of the mainstream rags speaks volumes. Though, having been caught with their hands in the cookie jar (so to speak!), whether they will go ahead with their spin plans is still to be seen!

This is the kind of expose`that makes membership here worth it. And kudos once again to CrAzY dRiVeR.

Look at this -

Not only does CarDeko make this ad without permission of the people featured, they claim the users to show interest the car!

It's a sponsored content and there are a bunch of Bhpians featured in this who were never asked for permission or approval.

EDIT - I have saved the ad incase they take it down.

They got it wrong - Bhpians were probably turning their head thinking "Ah this is that local car which the Renault CEO was bragging as global award winner!"

  • It does have a presence unlike scross with that massive ground clearance and sharp nose
  • Interiors are hard plastics but to be honest they dont look that bad like duster.
  • Visibility from the driver seat is excellent
  • Rear seat space is kind of okay and you would not mind spending time in there
  • Sales representative said the top end variant will be under 14 lakh (not too sure about her source though)

Overall a nice crossover if priced between 9-14 Lakh.
Agree with the assessment above, checked out the same car. It's got a more premium feel than the duster, the plastics are clearly a better quality. I didn't quite care for the seat colors, like the Jeep Compass they were off white but had a thick black edge on either side, I hope there are options beyond this. That being said the car does have a sense of presence with the height and you do get a great feel at the driver's seat. It's a pity that it's not coming in an automatic, it feels like this may go the same way as the S-Cross.

I walked into one of the showrooms in Chennai to check this car out. It has a very nice presence and has got that suv dominating look. The interior is nice but very simple and duster like as most of them have mentioned here.

What I m really interested to know is, ignoring the controversy, how well the car stands out on its own and if it has drivability like or better than duster

Re: The Renault Captur's new ad is ethically wrong & deceiving! Blatantly fooling the Indian custome

On a lighter note, below is a reason why Renault has to fix their marketing team/agency in India.

These are snapshots from Renault Captur official Promo video,
The Renault Captur's new ad is ethically wrong & deceiving! Blatantly fooling the Indian customer-renault-captur.jpg
Although there was a car called TATA Aria that would still be called SUV with Crossover DNA, this is understandable considering cost and current scenario.

What the Marketing team overlooked are the usual highlights used commonly for a new product,

Class leading and best in class? A Class of one that the Captur just created!

They should really have content reviews before making such absurd statements in promo videos.

On a serious note, the car looks beautiful and would command great road presence. Looking forward to the review.

Mod Note: Our Captur Report has been taken live at this link (Renault Captur : Official Review). Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!
