2018 Range Rover caught testing in Mumbai

A camouflaged test mule of the 2018 Range Rover facelift has been spotted in Mumbai. This suggests that Land Rover might be planning to launch the SUV in India in the near future.

The fourth-generation Range Rover was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, while the latest facelift made its debut at the Los Angeles motor show in October 2017. As part of the update, the Range Rover receives a reworked front end featuring a new grille and bumper as well as new headlights with integrated LED DRLs. The rear features vertically stacked twin-pod LED tail lamps, rectangular dual-exhaust tips and a roof spoiler. The test car is seen riding on 10-spoke silver finish alloy wheels.

On the inside, the new Range Rover receives a Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, which has been borrowed from the Velar. It comes with a dual 10-inch touchscreen setup that replaces conventional buttons on the centre console. It gets new front seats with heated armrests and 4G Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 8 devices.

Currently, the Range Rover is available in 5 trim levels - Vogue, Vogue SE, Autobiography, SV Autobiography Dynamic and SV Autobiography Long Wheelbase. Engine options range from a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel with 244 BHP and 600 Nm and a 3.0-litre, supercharged V6 petrol with 335 BHP and 450 Nm to a 4.4-litre, V8 diesel with 335 BHP and 740 Nm and a 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 petrol producing 503 BHP and 625 Nm. The top-spec SV Autobiography Dynamic gets a 543 BHP and 680 Nm version of the same 5.0-litre, supercharged V8. All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 4-wheel drive system.

The 2018 Range Rover also comes in a P400e plug-in hybrid variant. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine paired with an electric motor producing a combined output of 410 BHP. However, this variant is unlikely to be offered in India.

The 2018 Range Rover was recently spotted testing in India. The updated models receive minor exterior design tweaks including a new grille and Pixel-laser LED headlights. On the inside, both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport get the new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. It is the same twin-screen setup found on the Velar. Other features include power deployable centre console, heated seats with massage function, gesture sunblind, air cabin ionisation and adaptive cruise control with queue assist.

The 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will be offered with a choice of 4 engines. The base model will be powered by a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel with 255 BHP and 600 Nm of torque. The top-spec diesel unit is a 4.4-litre V8 that churns out 335 BHP and 740 Nm. A 3.0-litre, V6 supercharged petrol engine will also be available. It makes 335 BHP and 450 Nm in addition to the top-of-the-range 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 petrol unit that makes 518 BHP and 625 Nm of torque. All engines will come equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The King of SUVs gets fancier! I absolutely adore the Range Rover range of SUVs and it is definitely an aspiration to own one someday!

Aside from the infotainment system, I believe the front grille of the Vogue has been inspired from Velar too. Not that it was a revolutionary change but still I guess it will trickle down to all models. Perhaps the facelift Discovery Sport?

Not much, about 15 Lac, though it varies amongst dealer and the variant. Some of the loaded variants were offered at higher discounts. But interiors of the outgoing Sports are very basic.

The new Vogue will have better rear seat options with an extended calf support as the 5 seater variants will get this option unlike past where one had to order 4 seater variant. From the brochure, it appears to be standard on Autobiography variants but optional on others, I will say a worthy feature to pick.

Granted they are offering the entire line up of variants since it most are CBUs.

@Turbanator: Is that calf support only on the LWB or regular Vogue also?

It is easier to get Fuji White Range Rover Sport SE and Range Rover Vogue variants in the Td6 guise. All other colours and variants usually take longer time.

In the price list given on the website, they have actually NOT quoted prices of SWB SDV8 Range Rover in any trim, or top spec LWB SVAutobiography (understandable due to customization options) and have omitted a lot of other variants of the Sport too.

The Velar and Discovery variant list, as you pointed out, is long enough to be confusing!

Agree, that's amateurish, they don't have a market in India yet where they can sell hundreds of these. Even though CBU, it would have been easier had they got at least lower specced variants in numbers. There is a lot of cross-shopping in this segment and availability is a key. Not everyone will wait 4 months.

Even though they list the regular Rogue, they were not importing it in past and only LWB variants were ordered. I think it holds good now as well though they have listed one variant.

The prices have gone up in that web price list, as the Sport HSE Diesel seems to be pricier by almost 7L and the full size Range Rover Vogue SWB 3.0L Diesel is now 8L more expensive, compared to old prices.

So the price list seems to be that of the face-lifted one indeed.

As usual, V8 variants of both models are seemingly short in supply. Sport SE and LWB Vogue 6 cylinder are going to have the shortest waiting period.

Since the new Cayenne is still some months away, making Sport HSE variant more easily available would be a good strategy for JLR.
