Re: The Jeep Compass Limited Plus. EDIT: Launched at Rs 21.07 lakhs

Finally a variant that the compass deserved from day 1.

The timing is perfect, they are loading it with most features of the CRV to pull some customers. However, I doubt it will pull customers away from the upcoming CRV which is not only from a segment above but also bigger in size.
However, it will put pressure on Honda to price the CRV sanely. Classic case of customer always winning in a competitive battle between brands.

What it will attract are customers that stayed away from the Compass for not offering all bells and whistles. Creta upgraders would be the perfect TG. It could also pull some customers from Octavia and Altis segment too.

Absolutely!

Jeep should be getting atleast an additional 40% of prospective customers just with this! AT is a must-have for the premium segment these days.

CRV is priced in a similar range in markets like the US, despite getting much better options like the 190hp turbocharged petrol. However - both will be chalk and cheese options in the Indian market, which gives a lot more differentiation based on the exterior size.

I doubt Honda will even give a second thought about the Compass, since I'm sure they would have considered the Kodiaq / Tiguan as the ideal competitors.

Sahil, It still badly requires a diesel auto. And that trim addition will drive even more customers into jeep showrooms but I don't know why they can't bring the diesel auto. Trailhawk is also taking forever .

Hmm.. looking at these prices, I feel Tiguan at 35L on road BLR would have been a compelling proposition (I think it's around 40L OTR now). Once JEEP comes with AT diesel, it will come dangerously close to Tiguan.

CRV with a 3rd row may not interest potential Compass customers.

Thanks for reposting. The reason the old one disappeared is because they had depicted the India map wrongly and must have received a lot of flak for it.

I too had conveyed my displeasure to them about it, am glad they rectified it quickly.

Cheers

Re: The Jeep Compass Limited Plus. EDIT: Launched at Rs 21.07 lakhs

I think Jeep has provided a lot of features for 1Lakh. But, it also goes to show the existing top end Compass had features missing which are available in cars 2 segments below.

Initailly, at launch, the perception created was Jeep has priced the Compass just right between the Creta and the Tucson. By the way, none of these Hyundai cars are considered Value for money. Now, when the AT variant will be launched, the prices will shoot up by more than 1 Lakh. That will make the Compass priced almost at par with the Tucson and way over the Creta. I am not so sure this vehicle deserves that.

Re: The Jeep Compass Limited Plus. EDIT: Launched at Rs 21.07 lakhs

Pricing close to 30 big ones OTR Bangalore is pretty steep.

I have a feeling they will not bring in Trailhawk to India. How much % of total sales is 4X4 configuration? They should have included automatic as well in this price range.

I absolutely love the panaromic roof, just wished car itself had little more space. In coming years more and more manufacturers should bring in panaromic roof, should hopefully reduce the cost for customer.

On a side note it is interesting to see cars which cost 20L + and higher just flying off the shelf, even first time car buyers are looking for cars like Creta which is in no way a cheap car. Wonder what is driving it , more disposable incomes or just that this is the new normal?

More dough no doubt. Super easy to get a vehicle loan too. If your financial records are sound, loan approvals are almost instant.

Also; with forums like TBHP, there is more awareness that you could own a better car at a similar price point. You may not necessarily want a bigger car but you want a quality car. Word gets around. The maturity level of the car shopper is also increasing. You care about top notch after sales experience too. It is no longer just the mileage aspect alone.

Not really. Barring Toyota Innova even the Compass is trending towards less than 2000 units a month. The Creta sells 10000 units but top end is 19 lakhs in Bangalore and i suspect sells much lesser than other variants.

Re: The Jeep Compass Limited Plus. EDIT: Launched at Rs 21.07 lakhs

Classic case of a company getting greedier and greedier with a bit of success in the Indian market. While the Compass was a somewhat VFM proposition when it was launched, inevitably, prices have climbed through the roof in the last year or so.

Now, we are looking at a vehicle whose decently specced variants costs near about 25 lakhs on the road in Bangalore. Not to mention that higher end variants which are better specced cost almost 30 lakhs on road. Ridiculously overpricing models isn't going to bring in the desired numbers for Jeep. The Compass is the only model which was hitherto not stratospherically priced in their range, and now it seems destined to move away from that category.

Re: The Jeep Compass Limited Plus. EDIT: Launched at Rs 21.07 lakhs

Let's not forget for 27L on road in Bangalore the Limited Plus still does not have a cruise control and an automatic transmission.

Compass id definitely not VFM, inspite of Jeep positioning it so.

Re: The Jeep Compass Limited Plus. EDIT: Launched at Rs 21.07 lakhs

I think they have squarely priced Compass with Tiguan and Tucson in mind, those two are the logical competitors. I agree the Tiguan is ~5L overpriced for each variant, believe there are interesting offers from the dealers.
