I think by trying to imitate the Q7 like hatch door (where the light cluster is part of the door), they have got in to unnecessary problem (like having to beef up the struts). This type is also less safe IMHO as the lights and blinkers are no more on the body when you open the hatch door.

The lights are replicated in the bumper and operate when the tailgate is open

If that is the case, the Elite insurance plan-in the case of VW is the one with vehicle on road price reimbursement in case of total loss add on. This typically can be purchased only from the dealer and the same plan is not available if you approach them directly-Which could explain why the sales rep is telling it is a special package from MG.

Going by my 14 years of experience in Insurance there is nothing which is not available in the open market. These are only dealer tactics to sell you costly insurance so that they can make money out of it. Search on Policy Bazaar, you would know the reality.

I test drove Hector Diesel version. Following are my comments (currently I have Tiago & Verna in my garage).

1. Car built quality seemed very good. Door weight may be faked by heavy hinges but I also opened bonnet and it was very heavy (have never experienced so heavy bonnet even in Tata Hexa) Also the sales guy was asking people to punch the car and there was no flex).

2. Sales service seemed OK, however, too early to judge as the guys are inundated by footfall.

3. Booking amount is completely refundable and price on date of booking applies. However former is mentioned on website but latter is not mentioned anywhere.

4. Almost finalized on diesel top variant and will be booking soon. However not sure what will happen with resale value.

I had booked petrol hybrid as well on 4 July but now I feel like cancelling my booking. Why?? Well because
  1. The error codes flashing in MID are scaring me. These are TD cars, not sure if these would be different from ones that'd be delivered finally.
  2. Recently heard and saw images, where hybrid underwent hydrostatic lock due to rain. IMG attached
  3. The SA guys at the showroom are clueless about the car and variants. They don't seem to have enough technical know how about the car (Delhi PPG)
  4. The SA guy I was in contact with, has stopped entertaining me ever since I told him about my online booking
  5. I already own a Skoda. Beautiful car and worse ASS. MG could get even worse then that
  6. KIA launch is around the corner

I think I should cancel and wait for the review first. Though I'm really tempted to buy the hybrid petrol, the combination is just beautiful :deadhorse

If I could deal with manual transmission anymore, I would have booked the top end diesel, but my only option was the Petrol DCT. I have booked both the Hector and the Seltos diesel AT and still looking for a good 2017 or 18 used 4x2 or 4x4 automatic fortuner. Whichever comes first :)

@MODS :

By when can we expect the Official Review ? Lots of people are eagerly awaiting here.

PRESS THANKS BELOW if you too have a similar request.

Had booked a DCT in June. Now test drove it, twice in fact. Both the times felt jerks specially in lower gears. It was more in one car than the other. Found DCT not to be smooth at all. Now a little confused, hence requests the MODS/EXPERTS to please upload an official review of the DCT, couldn't find anything online :(

As per the latest update from my dealer, looks like I will get the delivery of my car in the next 15 days. I don't want to delay it any further, so Mods please release the Official Review!

White & Red beauties lined up for their new homes.
Would you have the variant wise breakup of those delivery ready vehicles.
Thanks.

Yup. MG Vadodara seems to have started off. Just spotted a white DCT sharp in my building. Takes up the same spot where I parked my Jetta before :)
