Re: BS6-compliant Mercedes E-Class launched in India

The front has gone a little too soft which makes it look a bit timid and the steering just looks overdone.
The rear looks elegant and sharp.

Excellent post, covered all details.
Just one minor correction...the key fob is not chargeable. It has a small battery which is to be replaced if the "change key batteries" pop up display appears on the cluster.

Many thanks for the update. There was another addition from MB last year and I will always make it a point to out the key in the slot, worrying about losing the charge I clearly remember advice from SA at the time of delivery to put the keys in the slot for charging

Re: BS6-compliant Mercedes E-Class launched in India

The other day, while returning downslope from Mahabaleshwar, I was following a slow moving car.
My Merc E220D returned a mileage of 30.4 kmpl!
Pic below. Thought I'd share my happiness and amazement with all of you

Amazing. Our Merc gives some great figures too.
1st pic is when the tire got punctured and i had to use the space saver, because the specific run flats 245/45r18 were’nt available and did a steady 80kmph with cruise control on.
2nd is even better since it was a 50kms downhill ghat drive from Kodai and then involved drive through two lanes and then the highway where i did 100-120kmph.
And ours is the e350d so the mileage figures are fantastic, especially with today’s fuel prices.

But 30kmpl is too good. What was your final figure when you reached your destination ?

Thats the best way to extra max average. 80 with the cruise control on. I have got better mileage than the ARAI in my car using this method.

The only problem with the E now is that the high price. It is touching 85-90 lacs on road Mumbai

Re: BS6-compliant Mercedes E-Class launched in India

Have any owners of E220D faced rat bite issues?
I've had two cases of rodent entry, once in Pune and once in Hyd.
In both the cases, there were other cars parked alongside the E220D, but the rat somehow preferred the Merc to the others.
On the first occasion, an year ago, it costed me 9k and today it's cost me 6k.

I wonder if there is something which attracts rats or something which makes rats (also) comfortable in the E220D. So, in case other Merc owners have faced such issues, pls educate us.

The rat bite issue is common to the European brands because they have biodegradable wiring harnesses. I don't think there is a permanent solution to this. 6k is on the lower side, heard of estimates in lakhs for the same.

Re: BS6-compliant Mercedes E-Class launched in India

Hello Merc E220D owners,
My E220D has run 30k km and the front two tires are visibly worn out. The rear two tires may run another 5k km.
I'm surprised that these tires wore out so early, compared with my previous experiences of sedan tires lasting 55k plus km.

Anyway, I now intend removing the still good rear tires and fitting them in the front and then buying two new tires for the rear.
I am contemplating buying two tires of Good Year (Rs 11k per tire) or Yokohama (Rs 11k) or Bridgestone (Rs 11.8k) for the rear.

Any advice or comments pls?
