I dont have a ready answer but see below - the 2023 Renegade will only come with a flex petrol engine, in both 4x2 and 4x4 options. I think one reason for 4x4s being more on diesels might be the better low end torque they offer at low speeds but I’m completely shooting in the dark here. We do have petrol 4x4 like Suzuki Jimny after all.

I was discussing purchase of Compass with the salesman (he sold me Aspire last time). I'm bit doubtful about Jeep long term survival. But he assured me that Jeep will continue for long in India, also referring to Citroen launch in India.
He then told me that Meridian can be announced in April 2022 (following current trend of announcement, previews & then hard launch).
He also told me that smaller Jeep is couple of years away as per his information.

Did he mention when bookings might commence and deliveries expected? Ive heard rumblings of June 2022 but would be interested in anything more definitive.

Hi @Axe77 nothing on the bookings yet. I will meet him for test drive & other matters, I will discuss those.
Hope the weekend lockdown restrictions are over in Delhi soon.

I hope Jeep is keenly watching the demand for Kodiaq. They should speed-up and launch this ASAP - can get a good chunk of the Kodiaq buyers who would prefer Diesel.
Scoop! Jeep Meridian spied in production guise
A test mule of the Jeep Meridian with production-ready bodywork has been spotted. The 7-seater SUV is expected to be launched in India later this year.
The Compass-based 3-row SUV is sold as the Commander in some international markets. The SUV gets an upright front fascia with a slim grille, sleek headlamp clusters, square-ish wheel arches, just like the Compass and a pair of slim LED tail lamps at the rear.
The interior of the Meridian / Commander is similar to the updated Compass. It has a floating touchscreen infotainment system and is expected to get a digital instrument cluster as well.
In India, the Meridian is likely to be offered with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 48 V mild-hybrid system. I will power all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

ACI has begun its slow information teasers, which for most part are regurgitating already known information.
Its still a handy reckoner of what we can expect from the product. I'm disappointed at the Kodiaq claiming sell out status for 2022 - it gives wider latitude to Jeep on pricing knowing its direct competition is limited to the differently abled BOFs and the slightly less substantial Tiguan / new Tucson etc.
TBH, the Meridian should’ve been shedding its camouflage by now, this should’ve ideally been the time for Jeep to target the Kodiaq whose deliveries dates are no where to be seen and people are waiting aimlessly for their cars.
The Meridian has a diesel, a more usable 3rd row (assumption made on the spy pics) and solid backing of the Compass.
It’s based on the Compass, has the same interiors barring the additional 3rd row and rear overhang, has already been launched in Brazil. So what is Jeep India still testing?? Okay the Diesel engine with added power and a 48V system can be a reason but people will lose interest just waiting for the launch. And now the way launches take place it’s going to be a long wait!
