According to a media report, the fourth-generation Audi A8 L is likely to be launched in India by the end of 2019. Some Audi dealerships have reportedly started accepting bookings for the car as well.



The new A8 is based on the MLB Evo platform. It measures 5,302 mm in length, 1,945 mm in width, 1,488 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,128 mm. The car gets a redesigned hexagonal grille with a chrome frame flanked by re-profiled LED headlights. At the rear, it gets wraparound LED tail lights with an LED light bar and a new rear bumper with chrome inserts. On the inside, it gets dual touchscreens and a digital instrument cluster.

In the international market, the new A8 also gets Level 3 autonomous driving features. It is powered by a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine that produces 282 BHP @ 3,500-4,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque @ 2,250-3,250 rpm and a 3.0-litre, turbocharged petrol unit that puts out 335 BHP @ 5,00-6,000 rpm and 500 Nm of torque @ 1,370-4,500 rpm. Both engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a Quattro all-wheel drive system. They also feature a mild hybrid system.

Too bad it suffers from a massive image problem.

Its a case of "too much, too little, too late"

Too Much - Audi India had a high inventory of A8's which needed to be disposed of
Too Little - Yes, lots of technology etc but the exterior looks almost the same, heck, I must have seen one but never noticed it in the UK, unlike the new 7 which you cannot ignore.
Too Late - It was revealed nearly 2 years ago. The revised Merc S Class has come along, the new 7 has arrived within 3 months of launch. The new Panamera with the same interior technology is here.

Now market conditions are pretty tight, it will be a pretty heartless CEO who lays off 100's and buys one of these at the same time!

4th-gen Audi A8 will not get diesel engine option

According to a media report, the fourth generation Audi A8 will not be offered with a diesel engine option. The new model is expected to be launched on February 3, 2020.



The new A8 is expected to get a 3.0-litre V6 petrol mild-hybrid powerplant. It comes with a 48V electrical system featuring a belt alternator starter (BAS). It enables the car to coast with the engine switched off. The car also has a start / stop function.

Expected to retail around 1.5 Ex-showroom. Another meaningless launch by Audi if these numbers are correct. They need super aggressive prices if they want old numbers. If that's not possible, they should simply pack up the bags and leave this business for VW / Skoda / Porsche.

Audi A8L in China:

the rear of the new car is marked with 60 TFSI. With reference to the old Audi A8L 60TFSI model, it may be equipped with a 4.0T twin turbo V8 engine with a maximum power of 435 horsepower. In terms of transmission, it is matched with an 8-speed automatic manual transmission.

The car is equipped with 7 LCD screens, including a head-up display, a 12.5-inch full LCD instrument panel, a 10.3-inch central control LCD screen, and a 9.0-inch LCD screen under the center console. There are two multimedia display screens in the rear, the middle control screen and the rear, creating a strong sense of technology
