Recently someone asked me if I collected anything. I replied I didn't and pondered on this for a while until it hit me that I have the habit of collecting the list of cars and bikes I have ridden and driven in my young 8 years of driving experience.
This list is my effort on persuading people to let me drive their cars, riding 400 km just to drive an old Jeep for 20 km, pursuing some friends for days/months together, test drives, road trips, and last but not the least, my passion for driving.
With no association to any automotive media apart from our own forum, I am rather proud of this list since it has taken years of effort on my come across these many models of vehicles, brands and variants.
This list contains all the vehicles which I have ridden/driven myself and not just sit as a passenger. Between my dad and I, we own the following vehicles:
1. 2001 Maruti Zen VX
2. 1995 Maruti 800
3. 2018 Maruti Swift LXi
4. 2013 Toyota Fortuner 4WD
5. 2012 Honda CBR250R
6. 2014 Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500
7. 2019 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650
8. 2015 Piaggio Vespa
9. 2007 Honda Dio
Apart from the above:
Top 3 Favorite cars:
1. Ford Fiesta: I have driven cars like the older gen. BMW 3 and 5 series and still rate the Fiesta on top for the widest smile per buck that I have ever had.
2. Maruti Swift Zxi/Zdi: I am yet to drive a hatchback like the GTi or the Mini but amongst my list, the previous gen Swift tops my favorites for being so involving to drive. I have driven all the generations and infact own the current gen model.
3. Mercedes Benz GL450(1st Gen): I love big SUVs and in IMHO this is the mother of all SUVs. The sheer size and presence have made this my poster car and would love to own the GLS63 AMG some day.
Top 3 Favorite bikes:
1. Royal Enfield Himalayan: Surprise surprise! I have heard almost all the horror stories WRT the Himalayan including the recently notorious pic of the bike breaking in half. However, when this bike works, it is one of the most fun bikes I have been on. The stance, the engine, the suspension, all of them come together to make a bike that I never thought RE could pull off.
2. KTM 390 Duke: For sheer fun for the least moola, there is probably no other bike that comes closer to this. I hate their reliability and would probably never own one but I would never say no to a chance of riding one.
3. Bajaj Chetak: Cheap thrills. No better way to put this.
I do have a list of least favorites and uninvolving vehicles but I wouldn't want to hurt any member's feelings and hence refrain from sharing the same.
In any case, the list is just my opinion and do not mean to hurt anyone.
The reason for sharing this thread is that I wanted to know if anyone else maintains such a list and I would love to go through it.
Note: 1. Admins, please remove the thread if deemed irrelevant.
2. Please feel free to ask variants and details if any since the list might miss out some of these.
An excellent thread idea, thanks for sharing! Here is a related thread -
