Re: Rumour: Volkswagen Golf GTI to launch in 2020

VW Golf GTI officially released:

The 8th generation GTI golf adopts Turbo Gasoline Engine.

The turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI engine now produces 242bhp and 370Nm of torque, and is the fourth generation of the familiar ‘EA888’ engine.
No performance figures have been revealed.

Now the GTI is located in the center of the VW symbol, rather than on the driver's side. The roof spoiler stretched back and its black edge and gives the Golf GTI an even lower look to that of the less powerful models. In the background, the new models differ from other versions of Golf by a sport diffuser Another differentiator element is the exhaust pipe: the GTI has an exhaust pipe on the left and right.

Call me crazy but it looks a little too Japanese tuner to me. I'm not a fan. The old design language was so beautiful with angular lines and sharp edges. Such a shame they went in another direction.

New Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI: acceleration of 0-100 km/h and top speed tests

The GTI featured in the video is fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox rather than a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
In addition, the ambient temperature on the day of the test was a less-than-ideal 30 degrees Celsius.

Re: Rumour: Volkswagen Golf GTI to launch in 2020

Volkswagen Golf GTI 45 edition leaked. The model marks the 45th anniversary of the hot hatch's original launch in Europe in 1976.

Quote:
It's not clear whether the 45 edition would use the standard GTI or the more powerful Clubsport as the basis for this model. The regular version has 242 horsepower (180 kilowatts) and 273 pound-feet (370 Newton-meters). The Clubsport pushes the numbers to 296 hp (221 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm).

I'm a great fan of that older design language, and thought that it could last for ever --- or a bit more of for ever, at least. However, these are curves that I could live with.

What seems to me to offend the GTI tradition is the GTI badge. GTIs should never be badged. There should be nothing about them that identifies the model except seeing it roaring off down the road in front of you! The GTI should always look like an ordinary family hatchback: it just shouldn't perform like one

Here's another aspect of VW tradition: This feature may not be available on your model. How are they going to modernise that, with a graphic display? Four out six of the "buttons" will be blank and not do anything?

It's mechanically the same as a "standard" Clubsport - 300PS, 400Nm, 2.0-litre turbopetrol, 7-speed DSG, and an FWD. Costs £40,000.

Special Edition gets :
- Blacked-out roof, spoiler, and 19-inch wheels with red pinstriping
- '45' decals and badges
- A limited production run
- Akrapovic exhaust
- No 250kmph speed limiter

Re: Rumour: Volkswagen Golf GTI to launch in 2020

Volkswagen's Golf Mk8 to launch in more RHD countries, India's plan is sketchy.

Quote:
Although sales of the Volkswagen Golf Mk8 has already started in Europe since December 2019, sales in many right-hand drive markets (except for the UK) have been pushed back by nearly a year.
Quote:
The delay is to allow Volkswagen to address the reports of glitches raised by customers regarding the car’s infotainment software.

A fix has been rolled out and introduction in right-hand drive markets is now resuming in stages.
-The Golf Mk8 was launched in Australia in December 2020.

-After Japan, the next right-hand drive market to launch the Golf Mk8 should be Singapore, with Malaysia to follow suit.

Quote:
globally, eTSI variants are offered in two engines, with three output levels – the 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder makes 110 PS while 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder is available in 130 PS and 150 PS options, all paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Globally, other TSI petrol engines available include a 1.0-litre turbocharged TSI 3-cylinder that makes 90 PS and 110 PS (identical to eTSI, but only available with 6-speed manual) and a 1.5-litre turbocharged TSI 4-cytlinder that makes 130 PS and 150 PS (also identical to eTSI, but only available with 6-speed manual).
