MG Hector Plus - 6 Seater Variant to launch In February

Quote:

The MG Hector Plus 6-seater will make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo, followed by its launch. Styling of the three-row version will be slightly different than the Hector 5-seater. The spy pictures reveal that the SUV will get revised front bumper, headlamps in a new housing and new LED DRLs. The rear section will also look different. It will feature newly-designed taillamps, new skid plate and revised rear bumper.

According to a latest report, the SUV’s three-row version could be named – MG Hector Plus.

With an additional third-row seat, the MG Hector Plus will have more cabin space to offer. The faux brushed aluminum trimming and soft-touch material will distinguish it from the 5-seater Hector. The comfort goodies and connectivity features will be carried over from the standard model.

Hector is a great name for an SUV. Adding a plus makes it feel cheap. They are better off making it just a variant of Hector. The wheelbase and length of the car does not change anyway.

Why does the Status show as 'Objected'?

That status mean the Trademark Registrar has raised objections on one of two possible grounds:

1. Requested trademark is too generic and not distinctive.
2. Identical or similar product trademark already exists in Registry.

Requestor can submit necessary affidavits/documentation in support of their application within a stipulated timeframe (I believe ONE month) of the objection being raised.

Objected status might be due to the TUV plus name. Me says M&M must have objected, me may be wrong.

Hector Plus trademark application objected, MG fights back.

Quote:

“proposed to use its mark Hector Plus with respect to its new passenger car which would be an extension of its existing passenger car by the name of Hector and hence the applied trademark comprises of Hector suffixed with Plus."
Registrar of Trade Marks, backed by Section 11 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999:
Quote:

“the mark is identical with or similar to earlier marks (Hector) in respect of identical or similar description of goods or services and because of such identity or similarity there exists a likelihood of confusion on the part of the public

This 6 seater will be a massive hit I feel. We Indians love more seats in any footprint of a car! XL6 might see a slight dent with this one I'm guessing.

Depends upon the pricing and what segment they want to pitch this. The once thing which I fail to understand is their badging of "Internet Inside" - its completely kiddish. :p

We are looking at a premium of at least One lakh rupees over the 5 seater variant. Top end diesel is 17.28 lakhs in delhi. Add a lakh for BS6. And then another one lakh for the Six seater. It'll push the On road price to 23-24 lakhs.

It'll still be cheaper than the BS6 Innova, and coupled with the bling, should have good demand. It all depends what magic Tata does with the Harrier/ Gravitas.

I actually asked the showroom folks to remove the internet inside badging before delivery :D They were unable to comply as they're really not allowed to make changes, even though cosmetic, to the car.

Good, that they were prudent enough, since it could have lead to possible paint peel off, if they would have tried. Now Imagine that !

Spied again, to get three row seating with captain seats for middle row. Styling changes include new LED DRLs, revised bumpers, new grille and tail lights.
