Mod Note: Our MG Hector Plus Report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

MG Hector 6-seater spotted, will have a different styling compared to the five-seater, interiors to have different color scheme and captain seats while the features remain same. The six-seater variant is expected to have a lot of similarities with the updated China spec Boujan 530.

6-seater variant of MG Hector spotted testing - Post moved to a new thread.

They'll probably be looking at a mid 2020 launch. The tail lamp design and the DRL design will be tweaked a bit. The front grille will be bigger than the existing hector. Interior features should more or less be the same.

MG Hector BS6 with captain seats, new bumper – Spied

Quote:

The new spy shots of the MG Hector BS6 six seater variant are credit to Instagram user vikram_Dari. These new photos confirm that the exteriors will be revised. The redesigned rear bumper surely confirms the possibility of a different front-end. MG Motor seems to have decided to make the faux dual-exhaust layout less obvious rather than ditching the idea. The new set of exhaust-like cosmetics seems to be ‘inspired’ from regular Mercedes-Benz products.

In addition to this, there is also new headlight LED DRL in the front. In the spy shots you can also see the new rear seat headrest, which are different to the ones that are on offer with the Hector today. The larger headrest confirms the presence of captain seats in second row of the MG Hector BS6.

Looks great :thumbs up. Are they using 18" alloys in that test mule ? I really hope they launch them with an automatic diesel and higher resolution reverse camera.

Sadly, the alloys remain the same. The tyres continue to feel small for a vehicle of this size.

Tata is going to plonk a Hyundai-sourced torque converter on the Harrier so the competition will keep up. Do hope to see a diesel auto on the hector in the BS6 Avatar.

Well I wish this was something that most Compact SUVs like Duster, Creta could follow as well. Yes the boot space is always good to have, but sometimes there is a need for space for an extra person & boot is useless at that time. Having folding seats will really be a boon. Something which Ertiga has had for years. A good try by MG & surely there would be audience for this car.

MG Hector six seater variant spied in Blue

Quote:

As seen in the leaked images, the new MG Hector facelift will get revised front and rear bumper, black grille, revised headlight and tail light. Other than that, not much changes are expected.
This new MG Hector facelift 6 seater variant has been spied inside company plant, where production has started.
Besides the blue, I guess it'll be launched with a couple of other colours as well so as to distinguish itself from the 5 seater Hector.

What's with the twin exhaust tips? Any idea if they are functional? Because if looked closely, it seems the end-can is still only on the LHS like the existing Hector 5 seater & not on the RHS. I hope they aren't doing a jugad of simply running 2 pipes from the same end-can. That would be quite clumsy!

This 6 seater will be a massive hit I feel. We Indians love more seats in any footprint of a car! XL6 might see a slight dent with this one I'm guessing.

It's faux exhaust on both sides, original one(single pipe) is on the LHS with tip facing towards the ground.

Oh dear god. Then I'll say the existing design bumper looks better. This is going to look a bit weird. The faux-tips are fine - even premium cars do this now a days. But their end-cans are hidden much better. Hector's is very visible!

EDIT - By the way - the whiter elements & less RED in the tail lamp cluster is really a welcome change!

Six-seat MG Hector likely to get a different name

Quote:

The upcoming MG six-seat SUV was seen being tested in India earlier; and based on the spy shots captured, it was confirmed that the model will get unique styling elements (at least on the front and at the back), new alloy-wheel designs, different interior bits, and a three-row six-seat cabin.

This new six-seat MG SUV is understood to not just be positioned above the Hector, but will also get a different market name; similar to what Tata Motors has done with the Harrier and the Gravitas – its seven-seat SUV based on the Harrier whose name was revealed recently. This means, the six-seat SUV from MG will be marketed as the brand's “separate” and more premium offering in the Indian market.

As far as its styling goes, the six-seat MG SUV is based on the updated Baojun 530 SUV sold in China. It gets an altered front nose with a slightly reshaped grille with honeycomb inserts, unique LED daytime running lamp design, as well as new headlamps and chin. At the back it will get reprofiled tail-lamps and faux-dual exhaust tips and a new rear bumper design. Along with a new name, the India-spec SUV cab be expected to exhibit more country-specific styling tweaks along with MG branding.

On the inside, the new six-seat MG SUV will continue to sport premium interiors with subtle doses of faux-brushed-aluminium trimming and soft-touch bits. The Hector’s key selling points like the massive 10.4-inch vertical infotainment screen and panoramic sunroof will also see duty on the six-seat version.
The launch of the 6 seater version should coincide with the BS6 launch so I think we'll be seeing the car launch from April 2020.

Spotted one of the MG test mules on Kanakapura Road last Friday, in Raghuvanahalli area. It was parked at the side of the road. Couldnt take any pics since I was running late, and a U-turn would have meant a 15-min total detour.

So they are really breathing down Tata's neck. They ruined Tata's Harrier party with Hector. Now they are going to do the same to Gravitas as well.

I believe Hector did more damage to Harrier than Seltos. They are similar in size with similar engines and power trains. MG trumped Tata with the connected car technology and features. That same strategy will work in the 6 seater space too. The differentiation will be that TC gearbox in diesel guise for the Harrier brothers. I am sure MG will have some plans for a diesel auto too.

The XL6 is in a different price bracket so I don't see it getting affected. The main competition will be with the Tata Gravitas and Toyota Innova.

The MG offering will have 6 seats but with captain seats, just like the captain seats on the Innova, so some of the buyers of the latter would be interested. The key competition will be with the gravitas, with the key difference being connected car tech vs 7 seats.

Hopefully MG will also pair the diesel with an Auto. It'll make a massive difference.
