With the new model slated to hit the market in the next few months, the auto major has also decided to review the advertising duties for the Baleno. It has called its roster agencies, O&M, Lowe, Hakuhodo Percept and Capital Advertising, to present their advertising and communication concepts for the new model.

Industry sources suggest that the spend on this brand will be on par with other Maruti brands, that is, close to Rs 10 crore.

Do we have any spec for this if it is so close to release???

I think they should hijack the team behind Tata's advertising.......Tata automotive ads have consistently been the best.

In comparision, the Estilo ads outright sucked!

Almost all Maruti ads have sucked. And those that did not were very run of the mill and boooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiii iiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg. Yawn. Yeah even the Alto one.

Well the Gypsy ad rocked where these guys are in a gypsy in an isolated area and they ask a boy abt food and stay but dont get it, but when they ask abt a maruti service station, the boy gladly nods his head and shows them the direction,

tht was 1 of the best ads for tht time........:)

So now you know that good or bad advertising does not translate into sales or no sales. Its the Brand value, product and service that sells the cars.

Well it was not a Gypsy ad per se. It was an ad to highlight Maruti's dealership network as that was the Maruti brands huge USP at that time in face of competition from Hyundai Daewoo Fiat etc

The only Gypsy ad was that was aired on launch of the Gypsy in 85, used to have a jingle "its the Gypsy, Gypsy" at that time a better ad was a car running on the beach with a catchline "makes a lot more car sense" (118NE).

I already knew that mate. I also know that Hyundai has been built on the proper promotion amongst other things. ;)

Remember the SRK ad, "Iam convinced/cornered ad" which did good brand building in the initial days for Santro.

The Tata ads for the Indica turbo really was a shame. The car speeding past was so pitifully shown, more like an addition.

Estilo ads... less said the better. An edited version of the same ad with only the shot of the car was a bit more satisfying.

Maruti's ads for the Alto were a refreshing change... i still use the 'Let's Go' slogan with my wife ... irrespective of whether it's my bike or my car.

i also hate the Verna's ad... pitiful.

Yes. Which goes to prove that ad spend can contribute to sales figures. Not necessary, but definitely important.

However, whether one enjoys the ad is a personal opinion altogether. :|

Me too. Once on a lazy afternoon, my brother said "lets go Alto", and we found ourself driving to Bangalore from Chennai in 10 minutes. Tag lines and sloguns from Ads have power to get into our daily lives.

Maruti has to work overtime to revive the Baleno brandname.

That is extremely misleading. :)

Was it ever there in the first place? Maruti foisted an old car at Honda City prices and killed whatever was there. Too bad because it really is a good car.
