They do have a bunch of Euro 6 complaint vehicles in Australia, If they're sensible they can very well think of launching new Pajero Sport here, Which is supposed to launch in Australia early next year.

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

Probably the most relevant piece of news to feature Mitsubishi for the longest time. Basically, embodying the spirit of it's dearest partner, Hindustan Motors, right? Late, lazy, lethargic...and most probably, lame.

It's dismal news abroad too, besides fiscally. From dropping the legendary Evos to resurrecting storied nameplates onto lame, useless crossovers, they've really fallen from grace. The troubled alliance with Renault and Nissan seems to be crumbling too. All those memories of Jackie Chan's Thunderbolt with the Lancer Evos and GTOs, sigh...

Can't see why they aren't gone for good. Once upon a time, we adored their cars. The Lancer was a brilliant machine, and I still consider the Pajero to be one of the coolest SUVs to hit the Indian market. Then HM's spirit of utter incompetence kind of took over, with scanty dealers - The biggest sin a manufacturer can commit in India. Since the Montero, it's just outdated, overpriced CBUs that no one is interested in. Do they really expect anyone to go, "Nope, don't want a well built well priced Jeep Compass, or a Kodiaq or an Endeavour, let me have an old, overpriced car with no spares availability whatsoever."

Why don't you put yourself out of loss and misery, go the Fiat way?

Get in que for the 4X4 Pajero sports for 5L!! I'll have one in White please!!

Frankly pointless if Mitsubishi really went for such a meeting. BS6 is happening. Everyone was given adequate time. I'm surprised why we aren't selling BS6 since the past 2 to 3 months as it should have been.

Anyone cutting close to the deadline is stupid. Let's not even talk of people who think it might be extended.

And these same companies are selling their vehicles in Europe and complying very easily with similar norms there.

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

Nitin Gadkari will grant the extension for humanitarian reasons once they show him the pictures, specs & ex-showroom price of the new Pajero ;-)

Each time I visit Thailand I marvel at the Mitsubishi vehicles there. Even now, I purposely slow down and follow the old Pajero when I see one - it just looks indestructible!

They are just masochistic - starting from the Hindustan Motors tie-up. I nearly bought a black Cedia Sport in 2010/11. Frankly glad I didn't!

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

I find this hard to believe. Probably fake news. I cant imagine Nitin Gadkari giving an appointment to Mitsubishi. Or maybe they met him under a false pretense. Whatever it maybe they have got loads of viral publicity. If they knew how to monetize the publicity, they wouldn't be in the dire straits they are now.

I think the only car they sell (Outlander) is a CBU and they need to make them BS6 compliant where they are produced. I wonder if they are already not exporting Euro 6 compliant cars to Europe and how difficult it is to tune it to be BS6 compliant. In fact Euro 6 may be more stringent.

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

It looks like Mitsubishi suddenly woke up from their coma state & are wanting to catch up with the time

But, my question is, how did Amit Shah’s security or secretary provide an appointment to a normal citizen?

Amit Shah will be like tell me your problem? Any issues with your locality that his team could address!

Mitsubishi spokesperson would be shocked to hear it

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

I am sure almost all the companies are more or less prepared for BS6 deadline. However I do have my doubts about the possible after shocks of the same. Also ideally almost all of the manufacturers must have stopped/ almost stopped production until they clear existing BS4 stocks. If not we would have the BS4 deadline type of a fire-sale event for sure. I had bought a Honda Navi last time this happened at a very good price.

Its either fake news or Mitsubishi is sounding its exit from market I guess, otherwise I find no reason why a seller of such low volumes decides to talk about the big issue which has a bigger effect on the actual market owners like Maruti & Hyundai.

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

At the start of the decade when the BS3 to BS4 transition was implemented I remember reading HM detuning the BS3 engine of the pajero SFX from 118bhp to 108bhp to make it pass the BS4 norms.
Can do they something similar for the switch from BS4 to BS6 with their existing engines?

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

Why does all of it sound to me like a staging, finally a solid reason Mitsubishi India could exit from Indian markets, blaming the government that they did not honor the request of such a big manufacturer worldwide.

I remember I so badly wanted to own a Mitsubishi in my childhood. Guess I need to satisfy myself with a Mitsubishi AC.

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

I think the only response they are going to get from Nitin Gadkari is: Haha, Cute.
Having said that, I would really like if Mitsubishi pulls up their act together and gives us some reliable go-anywhere capability.

Re: Mitsubishi India requests government to extend BS-VI deadline

I own a few Mitsubishi products, honestly speaking, I don't even care what Mitsubishi India/HM (if that exist) is up to and would have cared less about this thread than some of you, however good to see so many responses in this thread. I guess, most of the comments are from those who might have owned or wanted to or used to adore Mitsubishi products at some or other point of time and in a way their frustration might be showing up their old love for Mitsubishi cars.
Point is as a Mitsubishi car owner for last 10 years, I could confidently guess that they won't even bother to ask for an extension, however, credit goes to how they still list themselves in Indian market, guess they wish to prove a very different business model of how to be in the market without selling even a single product.
