How can you be wrong when the sources are authentic?

I stand corrected. Yes, I see they use VW diesel engines in UK and Ireland. These countries, like ours, have a liking for diesel. I was not aware of this. Seems from your Mitsubishi link that the diesel engine was introduced later.

Those glory days, I remember, when Makkinen was winning everything. Lancer winning it all. McRae in his Ford trying hard. Subaru trying catchup.

I guess, the days are all gone.
I was sitting in my Friend's outlander recently, and felt ordinary about it. Did not fell the race that you associate with a Mit.
Am I wrong?
