From the pictures the overall silhouette looks a lot like the Ignis. Especially from the C pillar onwards to the raked rear windscreen notch in the hatch. Seems to be dimensionally similar to the Ignis too.

The upcoming Hyundai micro-SUV – which was known by its internal codename, the AX1 – will be called the Hyundai Casper when it enters production in the coming months.

The design render is really good.But that rear silhouette,damn it makes the Spresso look a tad better.
I guess ‘CASPER’(pfft)could be that WagonR alternative that we have always wanted.

Ignis is a moderate success, wonder if there is space for similar style cars from other makers. It could also be everyone just trying to cash in on the "SUV" look craze. Find it strange that Suzuki promotes Ignis as an urban SUV. I own an Ignis since 2017 and sure, visually it stands out, is peppy and fun to drive in the city but is not a SUV by any stretch.

Casper, looks more modern and contemporary compared to the current gen Santro and might just work for Hyundai.

This looks a lot like the Ignis! But I'm yet to understand this fixation of car companies of branding every possible car as an "SUV". By no stretch of imagination are these cars even close to being an SUV; they are out-an-out a hatchback and that's it. If the pricing is right, this will be a another success for Hyundai. The Santro was a stellar car when it launched, not sure about how the new Santro is doing in the market, since many people just opt for the Grand i10 over the Santro.

The CASPER with lots of quirks:

- The windows are characterized by a slightly different height below the 1st and 2nd rows

- The rear handle will be flushed like the Beat

- The test car had 17-inch wheels, which are estimated to be the highest trim wheels and the tire size is 205/45 R17

- The rear seats, there are only two seat belts and the seats are 5:5

While I would love to have those, but don't think that they would make to Indian market. 205/45 R17 is higher spec than Indian i20. Max. would be 195/55 R15 or 195/60 R15 in India.

However, it gives good idea of what can be retro-fitted on this vehicle.

In the case of a front collision, will the lights be the first casualty? That would be expensive since you get much less depreciation benefits compared to the steel parts.
