This is not an old M800, it's the Swift , have you driven it?

Yes, I have driven it. Perhaps I must ask the question to you that have you ever driven a polo, figo, Altroz or even the Tiago? Instead of trying to save brands here, I think open criticism is necessary. I am not the only one who was surprised by the build quality of Maruti cars (no offense meant), many people have complained again and again about it. Let's not drag this debate further from the facelift's launch.

Does anyone know if the 'hill hold assist' feature can be retrofitted into the pre-facelift (2019) AMTs? :P

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

Is there any further reduction in weight in this new swift? May be due to engine model change etc.?

I read MSIL is going to change the apparently (and relatively) safer platforms of Brezza and S-Cross to this filmsy Heartech platform, reduction of about 150-200 kg weight and filmsy frame, thinner sheet metal.

Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift review by Autocar India

New 90hp 1.2-litre DualJet is not only more powerful but also more frugal

There's more grunt low down which is great when driving in traffic

Performance, though not thrilling, is stronger too. Hold the accelerator down and the 2021 Swift revs till 6,400rpm, with 0-100kph now coming up in 11.67sec, making it marginally quicker than the earlier car. The 100hp Hyundai Nios Turbo with its GDI petrol engine is, however, faster, with 100kph coming up in 9.82sec. For that matter, so is the Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI. Both smaller engines make good use of the turbo boost.

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

Maruti already has other cars like Baleno, wagon-R. What prevents them to give atleast a variant of swift with turbo petrol and a better gearbox like DCT for the automatic and better wheels. The chassis is lively and it doesnt deserve the AMT.
There are people who will (including me) who will buy one since it also gives you the peace of mind of owning one. Maybe they should come up with a performance division

The thing is why would MS do that? Swift already sells by boat loads... Heck their only C-SUV, Brezza with an anemic 4 gear TC is the highest selling vehicle in that segment.
Why would MS change the status quo?

New Swift review, in the era of Turbo-petrol engines does the Swift need one?

Well talk about Japanese engineering, and their focus on continuous improvement As long as it works, we dont need something extra.

On the other hand, as much as they perform(and since this is the usual time for appraisals) I would rate the performance as meets expectations, and not exceeds expectations. Perhaps if they really wanted to build a turbo out of the 1.2L K series, and gave us a 1.2L boosterjet compared to a 1.0L boosterjet, I think that would have me rating them as exceeds expectations on the performance front.

All makes sense for an enthusiast, unfortunately there are none working at MSIL who would let their heart decide instead of mind it seems

MSIL is crazy about volumes - boosting their EBITDA by lowering input costs via volume discounts, they don't want to sell products which only do 1-2K a month. They tried with the Baleno RS but soon gave up.

Re: Suzuki Swift facelift leaked online

Swift is now consistently the best seller in the country.

Quote:
Maruti's Swift emerged as India's Best Selling Car for March 2021. The model is consistently outselling the likes of Baleno & Alto to capture the Top Slot.

Maruti Nexa Baleno ranked second on the list with dispatches of 21,217 units. It was a mere 497 units short of Swift. Do note that Baleno + Glanza would have easily surpassed Swift volumes

Diesel cars still sell a lot and Maruti is missing a diesel engine in its lineup. Surely the Brezza, Swift, Baleno, Dzire and Ignis would have sold 20 to 25% with a diesel engine under the hood
