Not really a hero but something that I looked upto since I was a kid.

The Ford Crown Victoria; I have been a fan of this car since the time I started watching Hollywood movies. They are always a big part of police chases, generally getting completely smashed by the good or the bad guys.

In May 2010, I had a chance to rent one, that too in San Francisco.

Although quite imposing in length,
- the ride was as boat-y as it can get on a boat in rough seas
- seats were flat with no grip to the passenger sitting on it, making you slide on them on every corner you take
- engine lacked punch and transmission was as lazy as a cow on a rainy day (of course the police spec Crown Vics are with modifications, what was I thinking?).

Add to that I had selected it in the wrong city. The Crown Vic would not fit most parking boxes either on the street or in most parking garages with part of the car sticking out.

It completely killed my enthusiasm towards this vehicle and I no more look at it the same way as I used to for decades prior to driving one.
