Re: Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Automatic launched at Rs. 9.49 lakh

Hello ,
I have test driven both the manual and Automatic Rapid this month.
Both are fun but the found the automatic is not only fun to drive but really quite responsive . Hill hold and creep also did a great job for sudden stops on inclines, the car does not backup and holds there .

In the auto test drive found the little Turbo lag is not as pronounced as in the manual . Especially in slow moving inclines/ ghat sections have to down shift to first quite often in MT however in the auto could crawl in 2nd easily and immediately have the revs and grunt to overtake on the same ghat inclines .Good fun .

Initially the showroom was not willing to talk about discounts and said people are queuing to buy the Auto and manual . But today they called and asked if I want to make an offer : whats your figure. The sales rep said tell us a figure like " I want 30 k or 50 k off the ex showroom price". Wow that something and so early .

Am not sure what to tell . Considering the cost of the car is Rs 1,090,000 in Pune (Rider plus AT) , think it should be safe to ask Rs 75k off since the sales rep already mentioned 50 k . Rs 75 k off is doable since they have included close to 16 k in service /depot + essential accessories in the on road costs.

Thanks,

Re: Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Automatic launched at Rs. 9.49 lakh

Completely agree with the review of the AT. Also it has TC and Hill hold.

I TD'd both and found the AT much much better than the MT. There are no discounts on the Rider Plus AT and it is 10.7 OTR Noida.

For the Onyx AT, I have till now negotiated a discount of 80k which makes it 12.48L OTR Noida. Have been promised more discounts once I put in the booking amount. Wait time for Onyx is 1 month.

The Polo AT was initially considered, however that has no discounts and an OTR of 11.1L Delhi. When compared between the 2, the premium of 1.4L for the Rapid Onyx AT makes sense to me specially when it comes to rear space and boot.

Re: Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI Automatic launched at Rs. 9.49 lakh

Had a chance to take the Style AT for a TD in moderate BLR traffic, on ORR(Tafe HSR to Iblur junction and back). Definitely feels like a smooth TC gearbox in D mode, with minimal turbo lag. Didn't get to try the S mode. Planning to TD the MT on weekend, to spot major differences.

Seems like the MT ICE (8 inch) and AT ICE (6.5 inch) for Style and MC variants are different - this was a sore point.

No discounts (initial verbal) on Rider +. 6-8 weeks wait time. 50Kish discounts on Ambition and higher variants.

What an absolutely gem of an engine this is and a great auto box combination by Skoda. Company deserves all the praise for showcasing such good example of engineering. Loved driving it in and around city. With all the optimism around the brand's work around A.S.S. and customer satisfaction, waiting for kushaq to check if it can be my daily driver.
