Re: Why young & 1st-time drivers should start with a humble / cheap car

1.5L Kms for a hatchback in 8 years looks way too much driven with an average usage of ~19K Kms on yearly basis. Suggestion would be to increase the budget a bit and look out for lesser driven vehicles to have hassle free ownership being a first time driver. If you are going to drive predominantly within the city, then go for automatic options which will be quite handy.

Re: Why young & 1st-time drivers should start with a humble / cheap car

This is a great thread, and super helpful for me as I'm hunting for my first car in Bangalore. I am conflicted between a Manual and an Automatic. While I love the idea of driving a Manual, seeing the traffic in some parts of Bangalore makes me lean towards an Automatic. I don't think I or my knee would enjoy moderating the clutch in stop-start traffic.

On the other hand, I would love to eventually go on longer drives to home in Kerala and of course a few spots around Bangalore. My office is a ~20 min drive in traffic on the Sarjapur road (worst traffic I've seen).

Could someone help with this dilemma? P.S I'm eyeing either a Honda Amaze or Jazz. Would really appreciate advice!
