Re: 2021 Ford EcoSport Titanium variant now gets a sunroof (Updated price list)

This is the official statement from Ford regarding the 2021 updates which is being discussed here.

https://www.india.ford.com/about-for...titanium-trim/
  • 2021 line-up of Ford EcoSport delivers greater value at prices starting from INR 7.99 lakh while carrying forward compact SUV’s legacy of style & capabilities
  • Half of the variants to offer sun-roof with its introduction on Titanium trim; Titanium+ variant to make way for an exciting update soon
  • 2021 Ford EcoSport continues its safety & connectivity leadership with six airbags, touchscreen infotainment, FordPassTM, embedded navigation & more
  • The greater power of choice with diesel & petrol fuel options; Superior value with 100,000-KM or 3-year warranty and lowest maintenance cost of 36 paise/KM

In the second point, the statement "Titanium+ variant to make way for an exciting update soon" is being interpreted as the introduction of Turbo petrol engine(Mahindra’s 130hp, 1.2-litre mStallion T-GDI engine) as per autocarindia and few other auto portals.
Now, assuming that the update referred by Ford is the new engine, few doubts:
  • I checked the older ford brochures and I see that when they had the Ecoboost turbo-petrol engine, it was available only on the Sports(S) variant MT. Now, if this new engine happens to come on Titanium+ itself, what could be on the Sports(S) variant?
  • Since they have deleted the Titanium+ MT, but retained Titanium+ AT, does this mean the 'update' would be applicable only to the manual and Titanium+ AT would stay as-is?

My guess is that Mahindra's engine will only have MT option, hence Titanium+AT is retained.

Could that be storm edition?

Re: 2021 Ford EcoSport Titanium variant now gets a sunroof (Updated price list)

Got these pics of 2021 Ecosport Titanium over WhatsApp. Credits to respective owners.

Everything seems to be the same other than the addition of a sunroof and ESP button on the dash.

The wheels finished in plain silver is a disappointment IMO. It was far better in the gunmetal finish they had some time back.

Anybody experienced the android based infotainment system? Any visual differentiation with the previous one?

I am also looking for this for quite long. The local dealership in my place doesn't have any car right now for display. Came across this video which claims to be the 2021 Titanium MT model and SA talks about the wifi connectivity at 05:55 minute. So, if the facts in the video are correct, visually it looks to be the same as the older one.

Timing + variant for EcoSport (Petrol)?

Hello BHPians,

After lurking on Team-BHP forums for years (without ever signing up), I am posting a thread on the forums for the first time ever! I have read the guidelines and will do my best to adhere to them, please guide me if I make any mistakes.

So I will try to keep the requirements as brief as possible.

My father currently owns a ~10 years old Santro Xing, that was our first car ever and it has served us well over the years. We are lookout for a new car to keep as highway car and weekend use in the city (NCR). The primary requirements were bigger boot, comfort and space. And it has to a sub 4m "SUV" due to our available parking space, the space fits a new Creta from wall to the door with a couple of inches of gap at best so parking and taking out the car is a hassle if we go for bigger cars.

I did test drives of Venue, Sonet and EcoSport. Venue and Sonet didn't impress me or my father at all; the turbo lag in city conditions and the brakes both were not a good experience.
EcoSport on the other hand was the choice of the heart and head both, build seemed the best, brakes were superb and the engine seemed great! (Although coming from a Santro, every engine in our price range *should* feel great).

Now we went to book a Titanium (P) in Dec 2020 but most dealers said they can't book right now, and will do only as per dealer stock, if any! So we waited for 2021 refresh.

Now our confusion is between Titanium and Titanium+ AT.
Titanium is approx 11L OTR + dealer discounts, if any.
Titanium+ AT is approx 12.9L OTR + dealer discounts, if any.

The main difference is the transmission being a 6 speed AT and auto headlamps, auto wipers and 6 airbags on Titanium+.
Android Auto/Apple Carplay were nice to have features but not a deal breaker, sunroof is present in both but we really would have preferred no sunroof on either.

Since our use is mainly highway runs (~200KM one way) and weekend city rides (for a couple of years, will probably sell Santro and only keep EcoSport then), which variant makes more sense in the following terms?
- Value for money
- Ford's exit in India (for which I personally feel, Ford is now committed to India for the foreseeable future)
- Reliability and maintenance (I feel both are fine with EcoSport)

Another two points that I've been thinking about independent of the variant -
- Waiting for Mahindra's turbo petrol variant (what happens to the ASS for current 1.5L NA petrol engine)
- Chances of a major facelift in 2021 (if it's due in 2022, will not wait)

Resale value isn't really a concern as we would keep the car for 7+ years, maybe even 10+ like the Santro.

Please help me choose a variant and help me decide it is the right time to buy or waiting a few months for the Mahindra engine or facelift maybe worth it?

Re: 2021 Ford EcoSport Titanium variant now gets a sunroof (Updated price list)

Looks like the new 2021 variant rejig and adding features to the Titanium is a hit.

Went to check out the Ecosport yesterday at 2 different showrooms, both dealers informed me that there is a 45-60 day waiting period currently for the Titanium Diesel and asked me to book now to get the vehicle by end March or April. Sadly couldn’t get a test drive of the Ecosport, have given details for them to bring the car home tomorrow.

Had zeroed in on the Nexon and never considered the Ford initially because of Ford’s plan to partner with M&M. But after the recent news of a no go and also the addition of features in the Ecosport. The Titanium version feels very VFM if I compare it to the Nexon XMS diesel.

For an additional 23k INR I get a proper music system, larger fuel tank, more features, climate Control, factory fit sunroof and also alloy wheels. Not to mention a better standard warranty on the Ford. But I am losing out on better cabin space, 10hp and the 6th cog offered in the Nexon.

Test drove the Nexon on the way back just to ensure I am not making a mistake by leaning in favour of an older model in the segment. The diesel was not available for TD, however after driving the petrol it did not “wow” me as I had imagined.

The Nexon XMS diesel is 11.38 on road Chennai while the Ecosport Titanium Diesel is 11.61 on road Chennai.

The Nexon is good overall but I liked the Ecosport better. Planning to book the Ecosport diesel in February.

My suggestion would be to jump on this opportunity and try to get it delivered at earliest. You never know, when ford senses that people are flocking to buy their VFM variants, there is an immediate intervention to prevent people from buying it.

The car is solid proposition in that space, it is a global platform, much better than what korean twins are repackaging. Tata have always traditionally specced(bling) their cars a little lower in its class. It is a call you have to make, but no matter what you will enjoy both in its own way.

My suggestion would be if you are choosing between the Titanium+ AT and Titanium MT then include the S petrol MT as well because it offers more bang-for-your-buck and slots right between these two variants in terms of pricing. If highway driving is going to be more then my choice would be the manual transmission.

S gets same features as the Titanium+ along with the amazing Sync 3 system.

Regarding reliability and maintenance, no issues faced by me in the last 6-years (7 years next month) and service costs are very reasonable.

Thanks for the reply. I am convinced about reliability now.
For petrol S MT, it doesn't make sense for us as we don't really need/want those extra features, the Apple Carplay/Android Auto would be nice to haves but not essential. Primary driver is going to my dad who just wants space, safety and reliability.

I still can't make up my mind about AT at 1.8L extra as the first 2 years the car isn't going to be daily driver. For highway use, AT does have paddle shifters and that 6th gear should really be helpful for relaxed drives.

Buying a Ford Ecosport at this time should be reconsidered. The facelift is around the corner and it makes more sense to wait or consider other options.

Is there any strong reason for not considering Diesel variant? If your dad can live with manual gear box, given your usage I would recommend to test drive the diesel car. Many reviewers suggest that Ecosport diesel engine is superior to petrol one.
I've a question for you: With higher taxes in KA, prices you mentioned are pretty low. How did you manage such low quotes?

Are you sure, do we have any information about it? All I'm seeing is speculations but not even photos of test mules. I truly wish this is happening.

@chautob0t has mentioned the car will be driven in the NCR region.

Initially even I was a bit confused with such low prices considering it costs more than ₹1L in KA but then I read the post again

Diesel is a no because of our low running, < 10K per year.
Santro has done 70K in 10 years and now this running will be split between Santro and EcoSport for a couple of years.
Diesel has the image of a noisy, high maintenance car in my household, whether or not that image is correct.

For the prices, these are Delhi prices. I'm based in Bangalore but been in Delhi due to WFH for nearly a year now. This purchase is for Delhi.

I was at PPS Ford on the 16th looking for a upgrade to my Figo AT and was told the 45 - 60 day delay is because Ecosport is only being manufactured back to back against a confirmed order. Perhaps a facelifted Ecosport is around the corner after all!
