Me too!!

I'm going to sit back and relax this year. By next year most niggles would be fixed, ridiculous waiting time sorted, aftermarket out with the right upgrades and that's when I'll take the plunge.

No matter what Mahindra & Tata do, I can never trust them enough to be part of their initial batch of customers, too much headache!

They should also start selling the Marazzo with AT. It is a glaring omission in an otherwise sorted package.

When you have 40 weeks of wait time for the as -is product, why invest in a new engine tune? Especially when no customer is complaining about the power and there are screams over on road handling. What incremental market share is being targeted when you’re unable to cater the current share.

Maybe it’s an innovate way of getting some cancellations to bring down the wait and cover lost ground by charging for the extra BHPs

Mahindra should redesign the radiator guard if they want to add more power, this opening is not big enough, perhaps they should add the hood vents and move the intercooler up top if the pedestrian safety norms would allow.

More power is always welcome , makes the interstate trips that much more effortless.

Wangler is getting a V8 finally, fairly high output too, it will be interesting to see how they managed to keep that engine cool.

Any update on this engine or any confirmation? Seems all has gone quiet after the initial euphoria.

Is Mahindra aiming for foreign market with this engine?
Can we take it as a stepping stone towards a street legal Roxor?

Any update on this? Suddenly everything has gone silent. Though the test units are still doing rounds pretty much all over the country!

Mahindra Thar spied with ARAI testing equipment, could be the more powerful mStallion 2-litre engine

Interesting. Whereas Mahindra factory team has denied any upgrade in the engine in the foreseeable future.

Re: Rumour: Mahindra Thar to get 180 mStallion Pro engine

Its the same 2.0L mStallion. I have been saying this from the very beginning, right from the time they announced mStallion. The 150hp version will be for the sub-continent market, while the higher state of tune from the 2.0L is definitely for the export market. Mahindra has introduced to the turbo petrol Thar with the intention of moving globally. With an expected bump of 30hp, it will should find lots of takers especially in the Middle East (should be a decent alternative against "wranglers" and jimny) as well as in Australia. The XUV500 turbo petrol made its debut in UAE before even India. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again. The 180hp turbo petrol Thar would give the "overpriced" Wrangler a good fight here.

Wrangler after all the discounts is not an overpriced vehicle at all. Also do you really think that the Thar if launched in Dubai would make sense at even 70,000 Dirhams? Please don't compare Thar and Wrangler in the same breath. Does not really sound right.

Why not?

Keeping aside the copycat sentiment going around, Thar is definitely a good alternative and "Thar vs Wrangler" should not at all be an apple to oranges comparison.

Not commenting here for sake of argument, just want to know middle east market better.

To be honest, Thar wouldn't cost 70,000 dirhams (considering the XUV500) retails lower than that in Dubai. With a 180hp turbo petrol, Wrangler inspired looks , it should easily find enough takers. While capable as Jimny is, there is substantial demand in the Middle East for it, despite the high price. Considering that market alone, launching the Thar here would make a lot of sense. For many, it would be a cheaper alternative for the lifestyle offered by 3-door Wrangler. As much as we want to avoid saying it in the same breath, both Wrangler and Thar definitely overlap each other in more than one way.
