re: What's cooking behind Maruti-Suzuki's new teasers?

Could it be their EV, WagonR?

But, you never know with Maruti...could also be an upgraded Smart Hybrid system or even an upgraded AMT or just a new Variant with some useless Tech or new stickers

I really wish for their EV launch....

The connected dots probably imply connected features with voice command system that will probably be like the one on the Hector.

re: What's cooking behind Maruti-Suzuki's new teasers?

We can say what we want about Marutis but one thing is for sure, they somehow always manage to cater to the current customer needs. And they have been doing it successfully for many years. Even with Hyundai, Tata, Nissan etc. offering cars in the same price range (Hyundais have better quality and more features as well) still none have even come close to Maruti Suzuki, leave alone beating it.

Going by the images, looks electric, hybrid probably.

So whatever it is, its gonna take the market by storm!

Looking at the blue background it could be a hybrid version of the Swift or Baleno.

Could be something to do with Scross. The sales have really dropped in Jan almost as if it's some kind of stock clearance.

Maruti releases cryptic teaser; Baleno Hybrid on cards?

Maruti Suzuki has released a teaser image with a cryptic message. It has raised speculations that the carmaker could be gearing up to introduce a hybrid or an all-electric model.

What's cooking behind Maruti-Suzuki's new teasers?-ety_u0hvgaak1vg.jpg

The image has the text "We're going to tell you everything" and the post says, "Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone just yet..."

If this is indeed a teaser of an upcoming car, then there are two possibilities. It could either be the hybrid version of the Baleno or an all-electric WagonR.

Baleno Hybrid

The Baleno Hybrid could use the same powertrain that was showcased in the Swift Hybrid a year back at the 2020 Auto Expo. It was powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 91 BHP and 118 Nm and a 10 kW electric motor generating 30 Nm. The latter is said to provide a torque boost and assist the engine while idling.

WagonR EV

The WagonR EV has been in the works for quite some time. It is said to use a 72 V electric drive connected powered by a 10-25 kWh lithium-ion battery. However, a recent media report has indicated that the project might have been shelved due to rising input costs.

This system coupled with the inherently light car can potentially revolutionise the urban fuel economy game. This can be a start of something big and much needed for the Indian small car scene where all cars are more of the same. A small hatchback with a proper strong hybrid is just what our crowded and polluted streets need.

If this is what they have to show after years of mules and R&D, they might as well not bother. 72V systems belong in the Revas and eVeritos of the world and the kind of performance and range they offer found no takers even a decade back. Tata’s Ziptron is a 300V platform while the latest systems globally are as much as 700-800V. We don’t need any vehicles that unnecessarily give EVs a bad name.

Neither. This doesn't look like it has got anything to do with new car releases -

I agree. The link is given at the end of the video looks like a marketing campaign for the brand.

If you ask me, at this stage, it looks like a whole lot of nothing made by MBA grads, but yeah Maruti, please feel free to surprise me.

I remember reading on T-Bhp that Maruti is apparently not investing much into pure electric...
OT : Did me eyes deceive me, or did I just see 'Heartect - Safe platform' in that video?

Re: What's cooking behind Maruti-Suzuki's new teasers?

I think this points more towards connected car features.
"Going to tell you everything" aligns well with connected car features that tell you everything about your vehicle.
And customer satisfaction (or the Korean rival's inclusion of such features) would be the said inspiration to their technology, if nothing else.
Too skeptic obviously but if it is something different like strong hybrid, EV, etc, that'll be great!!

Re: What's cooking behind Maruti-Suzuki's new teasers?

Could it be a brand new maruti connect app which might provide all details that a customer is looking for ?
If charging EVs can be a new business opportunity, I wish maruti launches an EV variant as except for them no other player can induce/improve opportunities surrounding four wheeler business in india. Third parties might get enough confidence to set up charger zones considering maruti would show decent volume as they strategize for common man everytime.
