Re: Govt asks automakers to stop selling vehicles with purposefully downgraded safety standards

Maybe the Govt should rejig the tax structure based on NCAP ratings. For e.g., 5* rated cars get 5% GST, 4* gets 12%, 18%, 28% and 28%+surcharge on 3*,2* and 1* vehicles.

The govt may lose somewhat on tax revenue but sales of higher rated cars will surely increase. Though I'm sure MS will surely lobby against this move

Re: Govt asks automakers to stop selling vehicles with purposefully downgraded safety standards

Today another horrific accident has happened and one can see the Hyundai Creta is totally smashed to bits and bobs. An entire family has been wiped out except one young child who is now orphaned as his father mother grandmother and sister have died on the spot and he is injured and we don’t know how badly injured. I still wish and request all our readers and members to boycott such cars where safety is ignored and the same car has different safety for export and Indian model. Indian lives or any lives of humans and animals are not cheap and should not be considered the same. Unless people don’t stop buying these flashy unsafe cars the manufacturers will continue to peddle them and making profits. It should be safety before gadgets and safety before fuel efficiency. Every life matters.
