This year, Renault is celebrating its 10th year of operations in India. Earlier this year, the company launched the 2021 Kwid as part of the anniversary celebrations.

The Kwid is available in 9 trims, including RXE, RXL, RXT and Climber variants in both 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre avatars. The 799cc, 3-cylinder engine produces 53 BHP and 72 Nm and the 999cc, 3-cylinder unit makes 67 BHP and 91 Nm. While a 5-speed manual transmission is available as standard, the 1.0L version gets an optional 5-speed AMT.

The 2021 Kwid comes equipped with dual front airbags as standard. The Climber Edition gets a dual-tone exterior, along with features such as electric ORVMs, day and night IRVM, front driver side pyrotech and pretensioners.

Re: Renault Kwid sales cross the 4 lakh mark

For the segment that it's targetted, the KWID is a good car.
In fact when it was launched, six years ago, it was one of the very few models which successfully rattled Maruti's stranglehold in the mini A segment.

The butch, mini-Duster looks, spacious interiors(relative to its overall footprint, although the Nano tops in this respect), large boot, good ride comfort, excellent ground clearance with short overhangs, segment first features such as a touchscreen on the top variants and a very competitive pricing, all gelled together as an appealing package to the A-segment buyer.

Renault, has to be credited for creating interesting products for India.
The 4.3 metre mid-size SUV Duster created a whole new segment in India. The KWID followed: bringing style and panache to the humdrum A segment. The TRIBER with its brilliant packaging and handsome looks is a fantastic product in the sub-4metre MPV segment, the KIGER is a bit late to the party, trying to make a mark in a very competitive segment, but is definitely not being ignored by prospective buyers.

The trio of French OEM's, consisting of Renault, Peugeot and Citroen, were always a pioneer in their home markets in making competitive products for the masses.
Hope they carry that DNA over to their Indian operations and continue to add a dash of Gaulic flair to our automotive landscape.

Dont know about the present model, but my father in law got a new car soon after its launch. It's had a hell lot of gremlins and issues from just 7k something kms on the odo, it was the warning light popping up every now and then and the car had to be towed to service twice for reasons we still have no clue about.
Since lockdown began, the Air con itself broke down 8 times and it cost 18k to get that fixed.

Two years in after buying, the silencer unit literally fell off hanging on the rear axle due to rusting at the joint and this was only 2 weeks post warranty period. He got it welded outside cause the service folks couldn't guarantee a new replacement at his expense would last at least two years without falling off again. Eventually he had to replace the silencer unit when it became impossible to weld and fix. This was another 7k on his pocket. All this within 24,000kms of running the car. Also got to know from many service centres that most first generation Kwids have these same issues. He's now looking to sell it off and get a new car, but there are very few takers for this model around these parts even at low baller prices.

Then about GC, the first gen Kwid easily scrapes bottom once there are 4 people on board where even my low profile tyre(165/60R12) riding Alto used to clear(with the same number of occupants) without the underbody getting scraped.
