while Brezza update is coming around July 2022.
Is this confirmed? Any possibility for it to be launched by March 2022? BTW, are you aware of the platform of new Brezza?

I think Maruti-Suzuki are have some great concepts but in reality they end up having plain looks with puny tyre profile and meagre engine with their legendary 4AT and pathetic crash safety rating. Only thing they excel is "kitna deti hai"

From the news, surely it looks promising and hoping for the best from Maruti. Sun roof, paddle shifters etc look like Maruti is going in the right direction(hopefully)

Excellent move by Maruti. I have a S Cross 1.6 and dont have an option to upgrade within the Maruti line up. Its time they up their game. Indian consumers have shown that they will pay Rs 20L plus for Indian made cars provided they are well engineered and safe.

High time MSIL mimics TATA and Mahindra to move up a few segments

Not completely true. i20 and Elantra share the same diesel engine but atleast they are tuned differently. Tiago has a 1.2L NA engine but Nexon has 1.2L turbo. And why is Tiago a 5 lakh car whereas Nexon a 15 lakh car?
Besides that is not even the point; the gripe is about the lack of engine options, not just reusing the same engine across cars. Elantra also has a 2L petrol engine option, i20 has NA petrol, turbo petrol apart from the diesel. Similarly Tata has NA, turbo petrol and diesel options and Ford too had 3 or 4 engines. Whereas MS is using the same 1.5L Petrol in 5 cars (Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz & S-cross) and it is the ONLY option available.

Re: Maruti to launch 5 new SUVs; plans 7-seat Alcazar rival

The issue is both TML and M&M have diesels that have been a key driver for each of them. Even Jeep has diesels that are helping them to drive growth. Its only the sale numbers of Kushaq and Taigun which will directionally reflect if people will prefer the petrol cross overs/ SUVs. That way MUL faces a handicap. VW and Skoda have never played the volume game till now in the last 10 plus years of existence which is not a case with MUL. Interesting times ahead

Re: Maruti to launch 5 new SUVs; plans 7-seat Alcazar rival

Better late than never, but what is really missing from the suspected line up is NO EV.
If you are looking at next 5-7 yrs without an EV, may be for namesake, customer feedback, go green feel , whatever just shows poor planning.
Tata is already in lead with Mahindra committed and Hyundai and Kia with their toes in.
Maruti guys really need to take their heads out from where sun don't shine and get to work.
Maruti gives a very Sarkari office vibe, chal tho raha hai na, why bother, will be next guys headache.

There is no mention of the new S-Cross. Is it not expected to come here?

A Maruti contender vs the Creta would be good to see. Creta is a brand in itself and would be good to see the sale numbers vs whatever MS pulls out.

I'd be bullish on MS. They have the brand recall, just need better products.

Maruti Suzuki is readying a second compact SUV that will be a more premium alternative to the Vitara Brezza. Codenamed the YTB, the new compact SUV is expected to be underpinned by Maruti's Heartect platform and will go on sale via the company's Nexa dealership chain.
  • New compact SUV to be positioned above Vitara Brezza
  • Expected to get a greater degree of electrification
  • Will retail via Maruti's Nexa dealership
New Maruti compact SUV: What's to know

To start with, unlike the Brezza, the YTB is expected to use Mauti's Heartect platform that has underpinned all new Marutis to launch in recent years. The Brezza in comparison is based on the Suzuki Global C platform also used by the larger S-Cross. Maruti is looking to target a younger audience with the YTB, and, to that extent, it is expected to be the sportiest of Maruti's SUVs getting a more SUV-coupe design. It could be the production derivative of the Futuro-e concept from the 2020 Auto Expo.
The new Compact SUV will sit above the Brezza in Maruti's line-up, expecting to rival the higher feature-loaded variants of the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, among others. The SUV will be sold via Maruti Suzuki's Nexa premium dealership chain. Expect the compact SUV to be loaded with features to take on its rivals. Little is known about the cabin of the new YTB, though one could expect it to share common switchgear with models such as the upcoming updated Baleno and the Brezza.

New Maruti compact SUV coupe: Engine details

Coming to the engine, like the Brezza, the YTB will be a petrol-only SUV and come with Maruti's 1.5-litre petrol engine. However, unlike the mild-hybrid tech available with the current crop of models, expect a greater degree of electrification to be offered in the YTB.

New Maruti compact SUV: When will it arrive?

Maruti is readying a slew of new and heavily updated models for the Indian market in the coming years, with as many as five new SUVs including the YTB –to hit the market. While a specific timeline isn't yet known, this new SUV could see light of day most likely by early 2023. The carmaker is also readying a Creta-rivalling SUV, a larger seven-seat SUV, the much anticipated Jimny as well as a major update for the Vitara Brezza.
Moving to its hatchback range, Maruti recently launched the new second-gen Celerio with the coming year expected to see the Baleno premium hatchback receive a major update and the roll-out of an all-new Alto.

Suzuki trademarks Escudo, Torqnado nameplates in India.

Suzuki uses the Escudo name in Japan, but Torqnado seems to be all-new.

Quote:
Maruti’s parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation has filed trademarks in India for two new names – Escudo and Torqnado – which could be used on two of the eight new models that Maruti Suzuki has planned for an India launch over the next four years.
Quote:
there are five more models, which are currently only known by their internal model codes – a three-row SUV based on the Grand Vitara (Y17), an electric MPV (YMC), a budget electric hatchback (K-EV), a Tata Punch rival (Y43) and a three-row compact MPV (YDB) – which could ultimately use the trademarked names
