As most of your list comprises of SUVs, i guess we're talking offroad prestige here.

If so, then there's absolutely no competition for the Ford Endeavour.

I voted for the E as well.

Ofcourse, when buying cars 2nd hand a LOT depends on the condition of the car, so i am assuming it would be a very good condition E!

Wondering how Shantanu didnt pick up a Honda this time I voted for the CRV thou. No nonsense car. Cant trust second hand cars. Better to play safe when it comes to premium vehicles.

The E240 2001 or 2002. Your budget is perfect to drop this car in your lap and leave small change to make it look awesome. You have prestige and and once you have done it up the exclusivity also.

If prestige is what you are after go for a Merc E Class.
Second hand or not, it's still a Merc.
No Honda or Ford (except the GT probably) is going to match a Mercedes when it comes to snob value.

You have 4 SUVs and a sedan to choose from. Of the four SUVs, three are unibody, so I assume you won't get off the road a lot.
I've heard from co-workers who own the M class that the car has serious quality issues.
The Terracan would be a waste of your money. The Endeavour, I think, is grossly underpowered for a vehicle it's size (a good offroader, nevertheless). The CRV is a decent baby-SUV, and has nimble handling and a slick powertrain. Good for city driving too (my personal experience). But the price of these three SUVs is far lower than your budget, and if I understood you correct, it won't exactly be a "prestige top of the value".

So the bottomline I guess is - sedan or SUV ? And if I were you, I'd choose either the E-class or shop for a second hand BMW X5.

PS: Just out of curiosity, why are you not considering a brand new C-Class ?
