Re: Renault Duster to make a comeback in India?

I'd truly hope when and if the relaunched version hits our shores, it retains the DNA of the former models. Instead of trying to compete, perhaps it could just be what it always was - an all purpose vehicle. AFAIK, it was born not to set the highways on fire or to showboat, but to tackle Eastern Europe's bad roads.

Although a minority, some of us still want an abuse friendly competent comfortable vehicle without needing and wanting funky gizmos. Anyway, I was hoping to retain my 85ps for another few years for the lack of compelling upgrade options in the market currently. So, a 2025 launch sounds just about right, personally (meanwhile, the heart and mind is set on something much derided for its interior quality for the next purchase to satiate the buy-a-new-car-itch :-) )

Upcoming Duster spotted. Don't know how reliable it is, a friend from the industry told me that Renault India is preparing Duster for launch in 2025, it will be made available in both 5 seat and 7 seat configurations.

A lot of automotive sites claim India launch in Diwali 2025.
For a new car which will be launched globally in November 2023, a two years wait will kill the enthusiasm.
Seriously, what are you thinking Renault India

It won't make sense to take that long to launch Duster in India. The competitors would probably get much better by then.

Some sites have also started claiming a late 2024 launch with sales starting early 2025. This seems to be a better timeline if Renault really wants to make this a success story.

Late 2024 seems unlikely. For that, Renault should have ideally started localization of parts, testing etc. There has been no such news. And plus this new Duster doesnt sit on the same platform or share engines with the existing Renault cars like Kiger and Triber, so Diwali 2025 is a likely possibility, anything earlier looks very difficult.

Such a sad state for the pioneers of compact SUVs in India. They just handed over the market to Hyundai ad Kia on a gold platter.
They should have been proactive in getting the next.gen in 2016-17. All that was needed was a new design and modern interiors. It already had the tested mechanicals, excellent ride and space.
