You got a BH number? May I ask under which category did you apply. BH in bng is available for govt n defence, but not for corporate, as per my last update from the dealer.

What you can try is get a temp registation in Bangalore and do a permanent registration yourself in Delhi. Dealers in Bangalore will not do this for sure. You might have to drive down to Delhi though.

I want a BH registration which is not available in Karnataka. I also have a Delhi address proof where BH registrations are happening for corporate employees.

As an option, can I buy a new car and get it registered in Delhi. But take delivery in Bangalore? Is such a provision possible via dealers network?

Spoke to a couple of dealerships in Delhi, they said no without confirming internally(I think they were less experienced or only commission driven)
I dont want to transport a brand new car via movers and packers.
Ideally, PDI should be in Bangalore.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Why I wish to do this?
  1. Paying 1.36L upfront vs 11.5K every 2 yrs
  2. Drive anywhere in India
  3. Not restricted to KA number, dont want the hassle of re-registration if I move or wait for 6-month long RTO refunds(which are very tough to get)
Actually a friend of mine just did one better!! He bought in Gurugram, got BH number in Delhi (residence in Delhi) and had the car transported via a mover to Bangalore (took about a week). PDI/Delivery was taken by a friend. And the car was taken by the mover from the Showroom itself. So this is totally doable.

Brand new car to the mover! Thats a risk I dont want to take. Gutsy move I must say. If you read the TnC on movers n packers you would never do that.

I know but the risk is in driving down too and i think its far more!! Costs will be comparable. He hired Agarwal guys who did a fine job. They loaded it in a container and sent the loading pix/videos too.

Whats the estimated cost for doing this? Del to bng.

I read some horror stories regarding battery sway, tyre swap, dents and scratches etc.. so its all a gamble really.

I think it depends on who the Mover is. Top movers have a business to run and a reputation to protect. So they will charge more but provide better quality...

The distance between Del-BLR is close to 2100 kms and it takes a minimum of 2N/3D (know a friend who does this route 2-3 times a year). SUV charges are around 30-35K and should be 25-30K for smaller cars I think.

I recently transported my corolla from delhi to bangalore. Transport charge was 24k. It took 7 days for the car to reach. Most transporters go through Hyderabad. They offload cars over there and wait for the truck to fill up once again for the onward journey. There was minor damage on my front bumper too. Not a very pleasant experience. Would not recommend for a brand new car.

Yes, it is possible.
I am based in Faridabad, bought my Seltos from a dealer in Delhi, he delivered it to me in Delhi with a DL temp number and I drove to Faridabad with it. Dealer prepared all documents in a file for registration and gave it to me during delivery. He took a cheque from me as a security that I will indeed register the car which he returned at time of number plate fitment.

Temp registration mentioned that file will go to Chandigarh RTO for permanent registration (Road Tax and Registration paid for HR) because I wanted a special number which is issued from Chandigarh Head office even though the series was HR51 (Faridabad). My agent handled this for me.

Delivery - Registration - Number plate fitment - Physical RC in my hand all in about 15 days.

I don't think BH registration is available for corporate in any location. Recently a colleague of mine was enquiring for a similar arrangement. He was told BH registration is available for Individuals (transferable Job) and since his car will be under Corporate Car Policy, BH registration will not be provided (this enquiry happened in TN)

I am not sure what you mean by 'Purchase' in Delhi.

Do you mean that you plan to buy a car in Bangalore and register it in Delhi? In that case:

Well, interstate purchase-registration is pretty easy process after implementation of GST. While billing at the dealer, you will need to submit valid address proof of place where the vehicle is to be registered. Make sure that the bill and every other document has that address. Dealer will handover the vehicle with Temporary registration number.

After this, it is the usual process of completing the RTO formalities like submitting the file, paying the Taxes/fee etc.

I had done similar for my Scorpio 4 years ago

Re: Buy new car, register in one state and delivery in another

This is not possible. Dealers have got their Vehicle Registration Portal with regional RTO. Hence, your vehicle will be registered with Delhi (Regional) RTO even if you take BH series registration. After registration the vehicle will be sent via cargo to you in your desired location

Get hold of an RTO agent in Delhi. Buy a Car in Karnataka with a temporary registration. Send all required papers to teh agent, i am sure he will get your registartion done without physically getting the car to delhi for a small "fee".

Re: Buy new car, register in one state and delivery in another

Additionally, depends on the brand as well. Certain brands have territory issues.

For example, a customer staying in Mumbai wants a BMW to be registered in Delhi, but only a BMW dealer in Delhi would be permitted to sell the car in such a case.

Brands like Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Audi and Kia have an open territory whereas brands like BMW, Mercedes, Mahindra, Toyota, Volvo, etc do not have an open territory.
