Re: Buy new car, register in one state and delivery in another

Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy a new EV and utilise the year end offers to the max. From what I’ve seen so far Bangalore dealers quote much more competitive prices than Kerala ones. Would it be possible for me to buy the new car from Bangalore dealership and register it in my home state of Kerala? I would be able to save more than a lakh in this process. Is it going to be too much of a hassle? What are your thoughts?

Were you able to find any answers on this? I'm thinking of something similar for some other reasons.

Yes it is possible. One of my colleague purchased xuv700 in Mar23 from Bangalore
Got a temp registration and finally registered with BH series in Orissa. Key here was that he knew the dealer in Orissa and the dealer here in Bangalore helped him by assisting in paper work like stencil prints for engine and chasis markings. Full payment was done to the dealer in Bangalore.

Oh yes! I picked up a Kona from Bangalore after doing temporary registration there, drove down to my hometown in Kerala where I did the permanent registration. There was no hassle at all.

Yes, possible if the dealer agrees.

Need to speak to them at very first meeting, and document it via email. There will be some twists & turns during the purchase process and this email will save you.

I approached Hyundai Dealer at Gurgaon, they refused. But VW Gurugram agreed.

I purchased VW Tiguan at Gurugram with temporary registration, and registered at Kolkata. The dealer arranged all paper formalities, including arranging RTO agent via VW Kolkata. Even car presence at Kolkata was not required. Only, I had to send all papers to the agent via courier to obtain the Disclaimer, and then one more courier with the Demand draft of road tax. Fancy no was taken via Parivahaan website & shared with the agent.

Registration plate was arranged by VW Kolkata dealer (Kolkata RTO does not allow outside dealers to apply for registration plate) & sent to Gurgaon via courier, same fitted on car at Gurgaon, pictures taken, uploaded in Parivahaan, and received smart card with-in 7 days at Kolkata home.

And yes, I had some extra expenditure for all above, total approx 13.5K, including RTO agent fees.

Would it be possible for regular registration as well? I mean buying new car from Gujarat state and drive to Maharashtra state using temporary registration. And do permanent MH registration in Maharashtra?

Can any RTO agent in Maharashtra help with permanent registration without any showroom involvement in Maharashtra?

Re: Buy new car, register in one state and delivery in another

I wanted to check one thing, My Aadhar has an address of pune, Now all other documents have a Delhi address. I have a corporate job with offices in the NCR region. If I buy a car, register it to a BH number in Delhi, will the same 10yr/15yr rule apply for my car as well?
In that case is it better to purchase from Delhi on a temporary registration and drive to Maharashtra where BH number plate can be taken and the 10 yr rule doesn't apply( Planning a seltos diesel automatic)

TIA!

Re: Buy new car, register in one state and delivery in another

Hey folks,

We’re purchasing a car from VW Chennai but planning to register in Bangalore. Dealer had showroom in both cities. Initial plan was that we get a Temp in Chennai, drive down to Bangalore for permanent registration.

Dealer is now saying that he can manage registering in Bangalore without taking the car there through his showroom contacts there. Since this avoids the Temp and registration hassle, we’re considering this option.

Is this common? And is there anything that could go wrong here which we should be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Buy new car, register in one state and delivery in another

Hello Folks,

Im considering buying a new car from Nagpur and register it in Gurgaon. I have address proofs in both cities. I have mentioned it to my dealer in Nagpur in my first call and he promptly agreed to issue a CRTM and mentioned to get the registration done in Gurgaon through an agent.

Given this context and the discussion on this thread, I have following questions:

1. Can someone share contact of a reliable agent in Gurgaon (HR-98)
2. What set of documents are required for registration in Haryana for car purchased in Nagpur?
3. Is it fine to drive the car from Nagpur to Gurgaon on temp registration? What documents /permissions should I take beforehand to avoid any hassle?
4. What's the process to check fees and reserve a choice number?

I got this list from a post (Bought new car, but want to register it in a different state) by @vigvr in a different thread and is super-helpful. Curious if there's a change in process now.

The process and documentation seem to be the same, even now with Form 20, 21,22 (Application for Registration, Sale Certificate, Roadworthiness Certificate), Insurance Certificate, Address Proof, PUC Certificate, PAN, Road Tax Payment receipt and Form 34 (if financed) being the documents required for registration in Haryana.

Do carry these documents while driving on temporary registration.

For booking a fancy number, use this portal: https://fancy.parivahan.gov.in/fancy...ic/login.xhtml

You have to create a login ID to access the same, and can book a fancy number by selecting the required number and paying the fee prescribed. Bidding would be applicable for VIP numbers and numbers in demand by more than one user.

Generally, an agent would help in this as well.
