Honda WR-V facelift spied

Is this the upcoming Honda WR-V model?

Honda WR-V facelift spied-smartselect_20220604121001_chrome.jpg

- It has an all-new projector headlight set-up with LED daytime running lights on the top.

- The grille is now slimmer as compared to the huge chunk of chrome present on the current model.

That is so ugly. Surely many steps backwards aesthetically. Reminds me of the Pontiac Aztec from Breaking Bad.

I do hope this never makes it to India.

At first glace I thought it is the Ford Ecosport. Hard to understand Honda's strategy, why they want to give a facelift to already outdated product.

The source implies that this facelift model was probably cancelled before launch. It was supposed to launch in 2020, instead they released a more subtle facelift.

It is an absolute shame that Honda goofed up big time by not introducing the CVT. Hope it can address now atleast. The cost of owning a Japanese car is significantly lesser and you have the entire "reliability" thing coming into picture. A CVT/ auto only makes it much more convenient. Wonder what the strategy teams were thinking really!

I hope Honda introduces proper adjustable rear headrests this time. Lack of rear headrests jeopardizes passenger safety and spoils comfort. It's time they start focusing on providing headrests for the rear occupants as well.

Did not even know that it's still produced. In BLR at least, I'm pretty sure that I've not noticed and newish ones.

Most Honda showrooms look derelict

Only manual transmission? There should have been a AT option.

That looks like anything but a Honda. Doesn’t necessarily look *bad*, per se, but doesn’t suit Honda’s design philosophy either.

That makes sense since designers exhausted their quota of chrome on City Hybrid.

Re: Honda WR-V facelift spied

Fundamental question here though - wasn't the Honda Jazz getting phased out? And if it was, wouldn't the WR-V go to? Because it is based on the Jazz platform.

On the contrary, if it does stay though, Honda should give it all it has got in terms of engine and gearbox options 1.2L Petrol MT, 1.2L Petrol CVT [For cost-conscious buyers], the 1.5L Petrol MT, 1.5L Petrol CVT [For enthusiasts] and 1.5L Diesel MT, 1.5L Diesel CVT [for those who desire diesel and to set it apart from the competition]. It's the only way the WR-V has a fighting chance in the highly competitive C-SUV segment, especially with the new Hyundai Venue facelifts and Maruti Brezza coming our way.

Re: Honda WR-V facelift spied

Unless they get the 1.5 iDtec CVT and 1.5 iVtec CVT, shouldn’t bother releasing it. Keep the 1.2L iVtec for attractive entry level pricing. CVTs in Petrol and Diesel would help as its a rather spacious car for the segment with major flaw being lack of automatic transmission options.

We have been hearing it since 2018. Just like honda’s compact SUV(Creta rival), this also is happening s-l-o-w-l-y. Lets give the speculation rest till it actually happens

Re: Honda WR-V facelift spied

Like most of the other Honda Cars in India, WR-V also lagged attention form Honda and almost became extinct (Hardly 1% market share in its segment).

Thinking of a Facelift at this stage is like giving a shout-out to the Market that WR-V is still there in the market.

I wish GOI makes adjustable rear head rests for 3 mandatory, along with airbag and seatbelt rule changes. Its unfortunate that even basic safety measures have to be enforced via legislation.
