Re: Mahindra XUV700 all-wheel drive variants recalled

Thanks to Vipul Kumar for sharing this!

XUV7OO AWD owners are required to get their AWDs checked at the nearest service centers because M&M has made some changes in rear wheel coil springs due to their placement.

The rear wheel coil springs should have 9 round coils in total in each spring. If there are 8 round coils in them, then those springs are to be replaced with new rear coil springs which have 9 coils.

Re: Scoop! Mahindra recalls XUV700 AWD over rear suspension issue

I'm just wondering if this recall has to do with issues like what Bhpian adneo faced with his XUV 700.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ing-lower.html (Suspension problem on my Mahindra XUV700 | RHS is sitting lower)

It's good to see Mahindra going about diligently to fix these issues that are cropping up.

Well i am more concerned on what Mahindra was testing before selling the product ! This is pretty basic concern especially when Mahindra was selling AWD earlier also.

While I completely understand your point, recalls are not new in the industry. It's been happening globally, some of which are even related to critical safety equipment.

I think we should be supportive that a manufacture is proactively involved in delivering a trouble free experience, and not get involved in running repairs. Repair it, only if the customer complains.

Yes, recalls by car makers due to faulty / potentially faulty parts or quality control issues with parts happen all the time. And as you said, this is commendable as it signals a proactive approach from the manufacturer.

But here, replacing an 8 round spring with a 9 round spring doesn't seem like any of the above. It seems like a design issue . Unless their quality control with materials was so bad that it now takes a 9 round spring to do what a 8 round spring should have done. Not sure if I'm missing something here.

Re: Scoop! Mahindra recalls XUV700 AWD over rear suspension issue

Whenever we hear of a recall, current owners might/might not be happy but atleast the manufacturer is careful enough/proactive enough to do something about it. Which I feel is a good sign.

Trust me on the other end of spectrum where duster/terrano 110ps owners are reporting widespread injector issues / AC knob stuck issues here the manufacturer doesnt even acknowledge it and thereby avoid any recall. Owners are having to fight tooth and nail to get things fixed.

Those who are not aware keep getting fleeced and pay out of pocket as they are not fixing the root cause. (25k per injector)

Absolutely!! Whenever OEMs proactively recall, it is a good thing that they're still owning their product even after it is sold. Of course it prevents them worst case warranty issues and their reputation /customer experience.

Even for the notorious Skoda Kushaq EPC issue there was no official recall. In India these OEMs are getting away by not making a recall and our Consumer laws are also like that. If our Govt introduces strict consumer laws immediately the OEMs cry foul that India is not a good place to do business (blah blah ..) while Western/European countries have very strict policies they're ok to do business there.
So let's cheer for Mahindra for owning their issue and trying to fix it voluntarily. Kudos to them. Looking forward to more OEMs to follow suit and make customers happy.

Re: Scoop! Mahindra recalls XUV700 AWD over rear suspension issue

Mahindra like a few other automakers has set another good example of customer care and good post-marketing ethics, with such a proactive recall. It should also shame many other stubborn and hide bound automakers who traumatise customers with their defective products by draining their pockets and by causing them mental agony and nightmares. Some of these are the same MNC's who are extremely proactive in the west, where stringent consumer laws could even make them bankrupt, should they behave indifferently. Though the Transport Ministry has introduced some stringencies for defective product recalls, our laws are nowhere near to the dreaded consumer laws in many countries of the developed West.

But here's a point. The XUV 700 AWD owner would have to be physically fit enough to spend quite a few minutes with an abnormal body positioning around the rear wheel to successfully do the physical one to eight or one to nine countdown.
