Once a Beemer man, always a Beemer man. i agree the the bangled 7-series isn't to everybody's liking but then i started seeing them on the roads and i was awestruck. it suddenly negated everything car mags ahd to say about them. and BMW driving dynamics are unbeatable, everybody knows that. i have read the review as the new quattroporte, and it isn't all that great. opinions though. and the i-drive is pretty distracting, but if i had one i just wouldn't touch it.

For me it just has to be the Mercedes. This is just for one reason and one reason only. It is the best at what they do! In an upper-segment car there is no match for the Mercedes, be-it the S-Class, SL-Class, Cl-Class. In the lower segments though i gotta agree Mercedes isnt the best. Id rathar prefer a 3-Series or an A6 over the C-Class or E-Class. But in the cars that really matter, the competition doesn't even come within a 100-feet of mercedes. The S-Class is a renowned leader in its Class and this has been proven by the fact that is is technologically advanced more so than the 7 even though it was released a year prior to it, and also ALL the critics have chosen a variation of the S as compared to the 7 or A8. As Jeremy Clarkson said, when your competing against the monarchial like S-Class, which has shown its presense since the birth of luxury cars, you cannot be as good as it ! You have to be one step better! (comparison to the A8). and somebody mentioned reliability of the S well your wrong dude. It is THE most reliable car in the Upper-Luxury segment.

if i was allowed to choose with my heart, then it would definitely be the maser. it's real stylish, temparemental and very italian. but then other italian attributes like quality and reliability are still an issue. so that leaves me with 2 choices, the beemer being completely out of question. the merc is a very capable car, but so is the audi. the audi, i feel is better styled than the merc, but in an understated kinda way.....and its not so common too. and with the all aluminium construction, its pretty high-tech stuff. so i guess i'll go for the audi, but the merc comes a very very close second.

Mercedes S500 anyday. Audi A8 is drool worthy. Maserati are a bit eccentric looking. BMW 750i = Bungled motor werken.

I think that once you think about Indian Conditions the Merc wins by a large margin. Three points for the three- pointed star.

1. Good looks and snob value.
2. Pampering interiors(Massagers included).
3. Best service backup.

If we were talking about European conditions the battle is on and I think the Beemer would enjoy a sweeping victory in North america.

The 7 series looks stunning!! OMG!! GTO's right, this dude HAS been smokin something!

Maybe its a case of it looking so damn ugly, you actually begin to feel sorry for the poor car and begin to like it out of pity!

...then again...maybe he's smokin:laugh:

Im guessing you were reffering to what i had said earlier...

Im not saying that i think the 7 series is a perfect looker, but i do think it looks stunning with the right wheels/colour/tints.

anyway, its a matter of opinion...
